For all of you who have trouble getting the stock knob off......
Step One. Remove silver and black top. Underneath is a screw. Unscrew the screw and buy another one tha fits into the spot. Make sure it has a head on it. Take a hammer and hit the top of the screw. This will push it right off the shaft without damaging anything. It took me like 1min.

Not to bring back the dead or anything but i just got my B&M shifter in and im having an issue that no one has addressed yet. Ive removed all the shifter base nuts but the shifter base DOES NOT come out of the car, three of the sides are loose but the top right one will not budge even with the nut off. Almost looks like the bushing is holding it on somehow. Any help will be welcomed!!!!

This post has helped me 2 times, Once 2 1/2 years ago and right now as I have suddenly(after 2.5 years) found that I too need to pull up slightly on the reverse lockout to place car in 5th gear. Hmmm oh well, I plan to re adjust it this weekend. Thank you again everyone that participates in the how-to 's

A few suggestions. I installed my B&M a few weeks ago. Before you install it, make sure the reverse lockout is facing to the passenger's side! Check this first, as mine was shipped with it incorrect. I had to knock the pin out and flip it.
Also, if you find that 5th is hard to grab, it means you need to adjust your cables. You might also want to loosen up all 4 shifter base nuts and move the entire thing to the back and right as you tighten it. This combined with the cable adjustment has made my B&M shift smoother than stock.
Also, I removed the shifter and put epoxy at the base of the shift ball. The reason was that the little lock nut backed out a tiny bit or something. There was the smallest amount of play, but it was driving me nuts. I couldn't get them to back out because I loctited them. I got the first one out with a torch, but the second one wouldn't budge. JB Weld (at the circlip) is now eliminating the play in the shifter.
I see a variety of posts complaining about how to remove those shifter cables too. I'm going to put up 2 short videos on the easiest way to release them. All you do it to take a nice small sharp pick, and insert it into the clip, and it will pop loose. Hopefully they'll get approved.

Just got mine installed this weekend and it feels so much better. got the cables lined up perfect on the first try (marked them) and it was super easy. the hardest part was cutting the crown royal bag to make my new shift boot but it turned out to look really good. Cannot wait until spring to get it out and actually try it! This how-to was very helpful and made the install a breeze.

A huge thanks to this guy for that info. I tried for 45 minutes trying to pull it off and then thought I should search this site I actually used the same screw since I didn't have any around. Worked like a champ, in 5 seconds it was off and the all parts are in perfect shape.
