How-To Install a Lower Deflector (2.2L)

I have noticed many people with 2.2s are switching over to a SS front bumper, including myself. However, when you switch bumpers you lose the lower air deflector that is attatched to the bottom of the LS / LT bumpers. Many people overlook this. So, in order to maintain adequate air flow to the radiator, a SS/NA or 2.4L lower air deflector must be installed. I would just like to note that it is not nesessary to install this deflector, I have driven my car a while without one, but it is definately reccomended.

So lets get started.

Heres the parts you need:

(1) Deflector P/N 25792391
(2) Retainers P/N 11518017

STEP ONE: Pop out these four clips on the top of the grille. (two on each side)

STEP TWO: Take off the two upper rad mounts. The size is 10mm. (One on each side)

STEP THREE: Pull up on the radiator to get the bottom pegs out of the lower radiator brackets. I found it easier to do one side at a time.

The lower radiator brackets:

Peg fully seated:

After pulling up on the radiator:

STEP FOUR: Slide the lower deflector in between the lower radiator bracket and the peg on the bottom of the radiator. Also do this one side at a time.

STEP FIVE: You can now drop the peg back down into the lower radiator bracket. Just like before, this is easiest to do one side at a time.

STEP SIX: Now the the front is secured, you can now secure the back of the deflector to the cross-member.

The holes for the retainers:

Retainers in:

STEP SEVEN: You can now put the upper radiator mounts back on and the four push clips on the top of the grill.

Make sure the upper radiator mount is holding the nipple on the top of the radiator:

YOUR DONE!

you can now stand back and barely notice any visual differance.

Before:

After:

However, the deflector should lower your engine tempuratures just a little, which is always good.

Hopefully you all find this useful.
