got this done in under 30 minutes. NO NEED TO TAKE OUT THE REAR HINGED CUSHION! ONLY THE LOWER CUSHION!

Very happy.

u gotta have a little bit of the cable still in the cave from where it came from. so where the fork connects to the plastic, you'll want about 2 inches of the cable still behind that. if done proper, your seats will only need a little slight pull for the locking device to unlock.

I would rather have the release handles near the top of the seats if possible. Easier to reach both from one side I would think. I may try this at some point since mine rattle and I hate having to pop the trunk to fold them down.

I thought about pulling the seat poppers from my 09 Malibu to see if they would work in the cobalt.

soooo easy to do exactly what u want, just loop the excess cable in the cave it comes from.

Just want to say thanks. The only thing preventing me from getting rid of that UUUUUgly key hole in the middle of that beUUUUUUtiful sedan trunk was the trunk poppers. I was paranoid the electric popper thing would go belly up the day after it was gone. No problem now! Thanks again. We NEED guys that are willing to share.

i just did this to my car, the hardest part of it all was feeding the cable thru the rubber piece form the trunk into the car, the passengers side took like 10 minutes of fishing, the drivers side pushed str8 thru,, very easy mod, and well worth it!!!

Necro'd the thread..

but I just did this and I love having a latch on the inside, I just put the pass side inside, the drivers one I left in the trunk, so if I toss my snowboards in the trunk I can pop the trunk and ram the seat with the board and slide it in the larger seat division

I did the pass side one incase I gotta flip a partition down from the inside... for whatever reason lol.

just make sure you leave about an inch of cable behinde the clip or the latch wont lock.

I never thought of doing just one.
I might do my passenger side one because i have my amp on that side. That would make it easy to make adjustments.

yeah I was gonna do both, but like I said, when I have all my snowboard **** in my hands I like to just open the trunk, pop the seat from the back and ram the board through the "60%" folding side.

Lol but if I HAVE to pop the seats from the inside I can now, it come sin handy after a night of drinkin at someones place and you'd rather sleep in the car than on someones Grimy sofa haha! actually when you bring a pillow, fold the seats and sleep with ur legs in the trunk and head on the folded back of the seats it can make for a really good night

Just did this, only hard part was getting the cable back through the rubber grommet that seperates the trunk and cabin.
That and you need every spare inch that you can get in order to make the popper reach the spot from the OP's pics.
I dont think I got all the slack from the drivers side and it likes to slip back under the seat a little bit sometime. I might relocate them somewhere higher, I dunno.

Did this yesterday, was really pretty easy. Only part i had a ***** of a time doing was getting the poppers to stay in place under the ledge u cram them into, because u can pull on them easy to release the seats, but i gotta push them back IN in order for the clip to accept the seat up again... maybe i need to secure them in there somehow... any ideas?

anywho, great writeup, great idea!
