How-to: Replace trunk release button in the dash
Ok so this is my first how-to so take it easy on me.
One thing I hated about working on the dash and taking the panels off is the area with the trunk pop button. Every time I pull that panel I always then have to search for the little rubber thing inside that makes it work. So I decided to change that.
I went down to RadioShack and got a simple SPST momentary push button switch. It cost like $3. So I pulled the panel and cut the stock button off and removed it then wired the new one and mounted it into the dash panel in the same location.
This is the new button in the stock location and the stock wiring:
Once you have the new button installed you cut the stock switch off and crimp some quick disconnects onto the stock wires. It really doesn't matter which way you connect the wires since its just a spst momentary all it has to do is jumper the current to pop the trunk.
Here's the wiring connected:
Now all you have to do is button everything back up and enjoy your handy work.
Here's the finished product:
This mod literally takes like 15 minutes to do and it makes it easier to pull that panel without losing the rubber inner piece of the switch. Not you just disconnect the connectors and pull the panel and there's nothing to lose in the process.

I went through this how to guide because my trunk button wasnt working.. I checked the wiring it wasn't working. I went under the hood and replaced the 20amp fuse. the wires touching together worked. At this point I realized I could mess around.. I notice the fog lights button is the same size, and I don't use my fog lights; I removed them. I simply popped out the fog light button, and plugged the entire trunk button fitment into it's new home:
