There is really no reason at all to do what you are talking about. "I" or "2" simply turns off overdrive and is normally used when driving on hilly roads to prevent frequent up and down shifts. If you are just passing somebody, then just hit the gas and pass them.

It's not something I do usually. I just dropped it into "I" when I was going to pass@45 MPH (when the traffic was clear) and when I goosed-it the engine did not rev up quick -- felt like traction control kicked in. I tried passing again in "D" and in "I" and the engine revs quicker just leaving it in "D" when passing at speed.

what im trying to say is that the 08 cobalt ls standards specs say all gear traction control... whenever i put my car in L or I or D or N or R or Park there is no light that pops on to say traction control is off... if i pull the ebrake up one click no light pops on... so im assuming they fixed this in the 08... if thats the case then im curious if this override will turn off the traction control.

If the parking brake doesn't turn it off, then this won't either.

Does your 08 have a manual TC button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel?

Can you check your build sheet and see if you have traction control -- or All Gear TC?

I also believe that GM has an All-Gear TC system -- maybe you got "lucky" and have that?

there is no traction button in my car... when i look up the factory options for my car on different websites they all say "all-gear traction control" there has to be some way i can disable this.

shanks unfortunately we both fall under a model that can not disable traction control and you wasted your time doing this switch... the way to see if you have all gear traction control is if you put it in I or L the traction like should come up on the dash. if it doesn't then you have all gear traction control and this trick will not work. i've not been able to find another way to disable it. don't know if there is possibly a way only other thing is maybe trifecta can disable it through their tune.
