Can i take the speaker wires that go in to the stock speaker from the stock amp, run them into a an after market amp that takes high level inputs or A converter, then power my replacement sub of f the the after market amp? Would this mess up the rear speakers or bother the stock amp and the after market amp.

Im looking for more bass but dont wanna lose a ton of trunk room
i never tried, but i don't see why not.

yes i have done this and it works...how ever the high pass heats up your amp really quick...i plan on getting the mtx q to clean it up before i go into the amp...should hit harder too

The shallow sub is a noticeable upgrade but nothing extreme. It would be a lot louder if it were in a smaller area, say in a truck, since thats what it is made for instead of a large trunk. Overall though I am very impressed with this sub. It has such little excursion and depth but it puts good sound - rating of 1000 watts max power.

well, yes. it's not a car alarm setting off beast by any means, but honestly, i'm 25 and, to me, room for my tackle box anf luggage is more important than earth rocking bass.

once my next round of upgrades goes in, we shall see if it is enough, if i can't hear it over my 6x9s once the amp is in (well, under them, i guess) i will probably end up with a single DVC 10 or 12.

in a balt, it's cake.

for the amp, you've got basically, five wires.

Right RCA signal
Left RCA signal
power
ground
turn on

the right and left RCAs go to your source, which is usually either your radio, or to a line output converter.

power goes to the positive on the battery, which is easy in a balt

ground goes to anything metal on the chassis, i just ran a screw into the underside of the parcel shelf.

the turn on seems to be the one that people have issue with, it needs to go to a switched 12+. basically, when it sees power, it turns the amp on. there are a few how tos on this forum for that.

the only other connection is the output on the amp and the in on the speaker, but that's a straight red and black speaker connection.

so did the shallow mount pioneer seem to make much of a difference? and do you back 6x9's still work?

yes, the rear 6x9s work fine, and it makes a huge improvement over stock.

that said, two things to keep in mind, A my car did not have the pioneer system into from the factory, so i'm comparing it to cars that do. a car that does have the factory pioneer will likely loose some power to the rear 6x9 speakers.

second, you're never going to pound AS hard with the factory box and a shallow mount as a standard sub in a standard box, i just wanted the look/space.

true and my car did come with the pioneer system....so maybe i'll just get a standard sub...since it won't be much of an improvement

it's def a step from the OEM one, and there are other shallow mounts that hit a LOT harder.

like any sub, it's about getting the speaker to do what you want it to do.

for me, it was:

1. add some bass
2. look clean
3. maintain as much of the trunk as i could
4. not move around when i beat up on the car

i can check
