so do the math. Google mann hummell and price the seperators, and post up what you find. Same for the check valve. The go price the Russell fittings. You do the work and show me how you can get to less than 400 dollars.

right, I await your results. and the short answer? you cant jsutify that. the seperator alone is 285.00.

Ok so let me be a voice of reason. If you truly found a cheaper reliable source, please by all means let us know. This is an upgrade that this community is going to need for a long time. If Powell can source a cheaper option then I'm sure he would do it.

I understand you are mad at Powell for the bickering, but don't hurt us because of it.

And if Powell is speaking the truth then it's not like his mark up is that much. He isn't "screweing" anyone here.

Unless you're his personal accountant you can not make statements like this. There is no reason for posts like this in a how to thread, before a mod steps in and locks the thread take it to PMs with accousations/slander/bickering and stop ruining the thread

Understood, In fact all I did was asking questions about Powell's product. But instead he has a nerve to smack talking to me and thinking that I want to steal his ideas. Which I wasn't even trying to and trying to justify worth of $400 dollars for his product. Go look page 5 then you will see why this "how to thread" has led to this point.

Interesting how Yelcal7's grammar improves ten fold when he's arguing. Other times I'm forced to re-read 3-4 times.

yelcal- no offense, but i have the money to pay extra, and i don't think John is making a killing off of us, and if for some strange reason he is, then good for him. He comes up with solution's for us, for cars that haven't been made in years, and i for one don't mind paying more for things if it keeps someone like him looking for and building stuff for us. Isn't everyone who is in business, doing it to make a living? He has always responded to questions i have had, and has even sent me parts to things for free when he has found a better solution to something he has supplied. See how many others will do that. See how many other companies build things like frame connectors, or suspension parts that have lifetime warranties? He does good things for this community, that few others care anything about. Just think about it.

Can my How To thread be cleaned up please? If people want to add posts that don't pertain to the walnut blasting process, then please post elsewhere. This just screws people over who try and search/read/research this stuff in the future.

Very good point: I use both a safety kleen degreaser, hydroflouric acid in solution and brake kleen on the inlet manifold (once off the car lol) . BUT it is ESSENTIAL to remove and then install a NEW PCV valve these suckers are getting stuck on all the carbon floating around I think. They are very robust but when they stay open its awful.

PS if the piston rings are done none of this helps. I recommend an engine health check first ( leak down) just to be sure.... 5th injector may be more help than folks realise...so thats a good move on your part imho

Toyota are now running some DI motors with 8 injectors, 4 DI and 4 port fuel fyi

Lexus was doing that before, they claimed it was for noise, that the DI injectors were too loud at idle so the car switched to port injection when you would otherwise be able to hear the DI system. I guess they realized the added benefit of no valve gunk issues.

I just don't get 8 injections in 4 cyl. Why can't manufacturers just go back to old ways instead of direct injections and that way they will not have any problems.

Because it creates more power and better efficiency. By the time problems show up the cars are usually out of warranty so why would they care?

Yeah ****, then we all would be freaking out without warranty there. I just think it's ridiculous cause manufacturers want us to buy new cars cause direct injections don't last. Unless you have Powell's PCV upgrade then you're good to go.

UPDATE:

The car is now at 34.2 thousand miles. I decided to do a check up on the valves. The inlet of the turbo looks brand new and sparkling, so the oil separator must be doing the job. However, I believe my PCV valve in the intake manifold has failed. There is a river of oil at the bottom of the intake manifold and my valves are quickly on their way to being terrible again.

Compared with the end result of my cleaning less than 7 months ago, I am shocked to see how much build up there is.
