My switch just grounds out the cooling fan relay thus turning it on. This does make the check engine light come on sometimes about the relay but this is the safest and quickest way to do it. Light goes back off too.

Won't we be able to control this when HPT unlocks our ECM?

so just to clear this mess up a bit it should go like this:
from fan(desired speed)to relay.
after relay splice into the wire before the computer. from splice run through a fuse.
from fuse to switch
from switch to power?
now what size fuse should i use?

diodes!

how about this? is it possible to hook up a wire to power (acc or battery) to a switch, ground the switch and have the load go to the fan. between the load wire and the actual fan, wire in a diode and slice the diode to the wire coming from the relay. that way, the fan still comes on automatically, but you can also override it with power from the switch. you would need two diodes to protect the switch and the relay.

You should have an inline relay, controlled by the switch,to handle the amp draw by the fan motor. Dakota Digital makes a programmable Electric Fan Controller, pt.# PAC 2700.

Is it possible to install a maradayne twin fan to the stock harness? I believe that my fan is pooched because I got a P0480 and replaced both relays and 30amp fuses. The code ended up coming back! So I want to install the new fan. But here is the prob...there's 3 wires on the stock harness and 2 on the new fan. Let me know what you guys think!

P.S. A nice side function of the DashHawk boxes is that they allow you to turn on the fans whenever you want. Low and high setting as well. It worked on my 06 LS and my 09 SS
