ok this is how you install the rear springs..

step 1.. jack the rear of the car up onto jack stands and take the tires off like so..



step 2... remove this nut... you can use the lug wrench that came with your factory jack fits perfect




step 3.... now just twist and pull the spring out



step 4... cutting the bumpstop you dont have to cut it but i cut mine just pull the bump stop thingy off and cut away



i used a real sharp knife to cut mine



EDIT: i droped the rear 2.5" and was still hitting the bumpstop after i cut it.. so i just pulled the whole bump stop off and now i dont bottom out


step 5... now just install your new springs.... place the spring back in and jack it up a bit to put the nut back in




after install


lol.. now do the front asap

Because you're puting smaller springs on, the bumpstops have a chance of bottoming out...cutting them greatly reduces the chances of that...you would have to hit some pretty big bumps

great how to.. thanks.. is there anyway you could get better pictures of the location where the jackstand is suppose to be? Also does both springs have to be done at the same time or can I just jack one end up do the one side then jack the other end up and do that side?

Cut the bump stop LOL its worth it if not u will bottom out every where lol....

no you wont, i didnt cut mine and i have never bottemed out.. and yes you can do one spring at a time

yes you will bottom out ever where if you dont cut the bump stops..... i cut mine as seen in the photo above.. but it wasent enough i had to cut the rest of the bump stop off because every time i went over a bump i hit the bumpstop.... but after i cut the whole bump stop off i dont bottom out anymore... i will try to get new photos up.

I didnt cut mine. I bottom but I think in the front only. I have not seen details about doing the front. help me out. do you cut in the front as well?

What I'm trying to say is that did you ever think that the bump stop might be there for a reason, ie, serve a purpose? If the suspension is bottoming out and hitting the bumpstop, the proper solution is NOT to hack up the bumpstop!!

Well yes but I would expect Eibach had reviewed that. I know the dangers of doing something without thinking. but that is why were all here. Pardon me but were not stupid. we all know you should becareful not to cut if it means crushing fenders or the bump stop is no longer to do its job cause it is to short and then you hammer the **** out of your shocks (shocks become bump stop = death to shock). any way I know you were saying that incase we actually were stupid to not figure out that one on our own. thanks!

So do people ever feel that the bottoming happens in the front when they have the rear cut?. that could be my problem then. bottoms in the rear actually? thoughts?

Cutting bump-stops is an absolute. Ask any suspension shop! It's drop spring 101 to them. If you think people are wrong, then grab a phone book and phone and call a professional. I've installed them on 3 cars now and all had the bump-stops cut. One I did not cut enough off and it happened to be my wifes. She said the ride was so rough she was going to punch my lights out if I didn't fix it! I cut more off and life was good for me again.

He is right. It is a very important. and is an important thing to do. just not too much though

but you have to consider not to cut to much. otherwise you may then just pull it out all together. WHy? to short means when the suspension compresses all the way the bump stop is cut so much that no contact is made to the bump stop (to short). if the bump stop cant do it job then the shock takes the blow that it is not designed to do. it is possible to blow seals, damage internals to affect dampening. bend shock bolts (I am referring to any vehicle by the way).

ok, on the eibach springs, inside the package there is a sheet that says to cut the bumpstops. i think its 30mm in the front and 13mm in the rear.
