Interior: removing automatic shift knob
removing automatic shift knob
sorry if this is a repost i just remember everyone asking and noone responding....
to remove the automatic shift knob...
1.put the car in drive(with it turned off obveously)
2.twist the chrome piece under the knob counter clockwise like a 3/4 turn and pull down
3. there is a pin on the back of the shifter you apperently just unscrew and it will come off
i figured this out when i had my centere councel ripped apart running streetglow wires lol

i dont know if this will WORK...but its worth a try.
CF Auto Shifter
its a CF auto shift knob.
Has anyone done this? I can't seem to get mine off. Also, do you need to remove the shifter to remove the piece that matches the trim? I want to paint my shifter knob to match the painted dash.
i just tied this and it worked my next problem is trying to find something i can use to put in the shift knob i got so that it will be able to push the lock button for it to shift. anybody have any suggestions let me know.
got the shift knob on but had to add a piece to the trigger for it to work but it ended up not working can anyone suggest any other shift knobs or maybe some suggestions on how to modify the stock knob to make it look better.

I know I am reviving an old thread but when I used to be a Tech I noticed a lot of people would rig up stick shift knobs so the lock was perminantly disengaged so it didnt matter what you were doing you could shift into any gear whenever you wanted, even while off. I dont recomend that but I have also seen where they rigged stick shift knobs to press down(think of old vw beetles reverse) then shift.
