Other/Misc: Trunk latch how to.
Trunk latch how to.
I wouldnt really call this a how to but rather a run down on what to expect while changing out your trunk latch. Either your switching trunks for a clean one or switching for a Carbon Fiber trunk like myself. So I hope this will help some of you out and make it more clear on what you can expect.
All the pictures tooken were when the trunk lid was poped open in this first pic. I am letting you know so this way here you know for refrence where the pic. angles are from.

1st. thing your going to have to do is unbolt these 2 bolts that are holding the locking mechanism in place. When these are both unbolted down the mechanism inside should be able to pop free after applying some pressure as you can see their are tabs holding it down.
2. In this same picture you can see the long red rectangle at the top of the hole side by the clip thingys. this WILL have to filed down a little bit until you can slide the mechanism back through the hole if your getting a Carbon Fiber trunk lid. It seemed to me that the mechansim would not slide back through that at all with out filling it down for a lil bit for the whole was just a tad to small.

3. This is after the mechanism is out of the way and slide out as i just stated above. In this picture you can see the red outline. This is around the metal clip thingy that is holding the key latch itself in place. this can be tooken out by sliding it one way with either a screw driver or you can pull out w/ a pair of pliers. This clip is U shaped and is slide in side ways and slides out sideways so its a U on its side. ( meaning the 2 lines are pararell with the ground).

4. In this pic you can see the key latch where the key actully goes into but the back side view of it. Onces the U shaped clip is out of place this peice right here should move about 1/4 turn and then the key latch ( part where the key goes into) will slide out of the trunk ( meaning away)

5. This is the picture of the keyhole on the outside. as you can see around the key hole latch it has lil spaces to where you have to twist it to so it can be pulled out or pushed out. Im an idiot and lost my rubber grommet peice so thats why my trunk key hole latch looks like untill i get another rubbe peice to fill in the lil holes.

When putting it back together its pretty much the same concept. After its apart you will be able to easily figure out how it all goes back in. i would write up some more info on it but i really dont know at thistime for i forgot and i dont want to type slander ( lies) on how it goes back together.
any questions/comments just post down and i'll respond the best i can.
