door rattles anyone - How To, silencing door rattles.

ok guys so after finally getting very annoyed at my door rattles, me and the trim tech at work figured out that the plastic rivets are what is causing like 95% of the rattles. we came up with this solution.

items required.
-phillips screw driver
-hot glue gun and hot glue sticks
-plastic repair epoxy
and most important
-case of your preferred alcoholic beverage lol

1. see https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/how-remove-install-door-speakers-9833/ for door panel removal.

2. once door panel is removed place on bench or suitable work area.

3. remove cotton layer and hard foam pieces under cotton area. (these pieces are only hot glued on)

4. grab your plastic repair epoxy and dab generously on all plastic rivets and let dry until hardened.

5. after plastic repair epoxy has hardened, heat up your hot glue gun and follow factory hot glue points with fresh glue. reapply hard foam pieces and cotton layer in their stock positions.
-first do the hard foam pieces, let dry before proceeding to cotton layer

6. reinstall door panel to vehicle, and test drive on your local roads.
- some rattles will still be there but large majority of the rattles will be gone, theory is interior rear plastic panels are doing the same thing.

i noticed that they more or less completely went away but now i'm hearing all the other ones lol. and all your doing is removing the door panel, applying the epoxy let sit for a bit and reinstalling door panel quite easy.

i would say an hour if you don't take a beer break. hour and a half if your really taking your time. i did mine in like half hour. but then again i've taken my door panels off enough times to do it in my sleep.

Did applying the epoxy just on top of the plastic rivets hold pretty well after dry? I took mine off to do some other things and looked at them and they seem to be very rough looking like melted plastic? Is that they way your looked?

the nut that tightens the door handle gets loose, its cheap as ****. I tightened it, fixed the rattle but a few months later it came back... replaced the nut with a real one and all good. supposing thread lock will help
