solid mounts do not reduce wheel hop. they simply do not allow the motor to rotate in it's normal fashion, this transferring the vibration to the axles. then axles snap due to the vibration. when the vibration is too great. the transmission case cracks.

you want zero wheel hop. spend the money and get the right engine mounts from ott.

I can tell all of you with absolute certainty that if you break your transmission case, Chevy will tell you that it broke because of excessive wheel hop and they will show you a GM bulletin that instructs them NOT to warranty the transmission. My dealer replaced my tranny anyway as there was only 1,400 miles on the car when it broke and my Cobalt was the third new car I had purchased from that dealer in six years. My car was down for 34 days while they tried to find a new transmission.

With that said, I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my little Cobalt. I really love it. I have a 1966 Pontiac GTO, a 1999 Camaro SS, and a brand new 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T 6-speed. If I had to sell all my cars and keep just one. It would be my Cobalt. It feels faster than my new Challenger and it will slice up rush hour traffic like a ******* salad shooter. It has more options and it is a nicer car than my Challenger and it cost $12,000 less.

You are correct about that Bryan. The TSB even states that they intend to make changes (axles and I can't remember what else) for the 2008 model year to eliminate the problem.

yepo! you got hosed hard on it. the lnf cars have different axles, control arms, mounts, subframe, and knuckles than the ss/sc cars.

whats weird is. the only time my car hops is when i spin the tires at the track before staging. more or less a quick clean off. aside from this. it just rolls smoke off the tires.

im not sure how well the anti hop mounts will work on the lnf cars. i know they work on the ss/sc cars, however, they are different mounts.

erik. when do i get to play with your car?!?!
hmmmmmmmmmm?

Finally got the shifter cable replaced. It feels good to shift and it feel solid lol. Not sure man, I took a hit on my bank account with the photography business starting it up, so I'm hoping with the new job and starting to get clients my income will start going up again. Plus when snow hits the cobalt will be getting covered up until the ground is clear again. Yay for the explorer haha.

On "that night" I don't think my car was wheel hopping at all except for those two launches off the Launch Control RPM limiter. It hammered pretty hard. I thought "**** it" the car is advertised to do what I was doing and it even tells you how to do it in the owners manual. I couldn't hear much through my helmet. Did you notice any wheel hop after those first two "trips to the local grocery store"? Once I started launching off of 2,000 RPM like you told us, all I got was a little bog and then - rock on.

It had to have broken on one of the first two "trips".

Even though the tranny didn't self-destruct until the next day - when I was leaving work at 20 MPH, on public streets, not breaking any laws whatsoever. I had really considered letting you drive that night to get a better time than my fat ass could muster and I am glad I didn't because, even though I fucked it, I would have felt terrible if it gave out while you were driving.

Tha bad thing is that I truly love the little car. It feels faster than my Chally. Second gear pulls like the ***** ****** Budwiser Clydesdales. I feel strangely compelled to take it back to the "local grocery store". Maybe I can slip the bitch out and then, well you know...13 something.

Should I get the different mounts or whatever?

Disclaimer - I have never, nor will I ever take my car to any race track or offroad competition event.

Do I sound bitter at all? I love the little car but goddamn, I was mad at her (mostly Chevy)for a while which is why I ordered the Challenger. Maybe not such a great idea. Maybe it's a midlife crisis.

ok. i have a cure for wheel hop in the turbo cars, as well as the blower cars. two mounts. solid mounts need not apply. im working on a price for the local people here because i know the person who makes them.

once i know the pricing and who is going to be the supplier to the states {they are made in canada} i will let you all know.

now in terms of getting 13's. i have that power as well. maybe too much in the idea of the tune itself. you really want to whoop the challengers ass, AND the srt8 challengers ass. lemmie know. i can make that happen.

im 30 and have an ss/sc now, id really hate to see what my midlife crisis car will be

Right now, it's a special rate to get more business. $200 flat fee for everything. Unlimited time, unlimited outfits, if it's a far distance then there is an additional fee for gas and mileage. Customers get a CD with all photos, prints can be ordered through our website. (www.erikbriannaphotography.com) The site is basic right now, we're working on getting our layout done before the end of the month, but everything will be password protected for each client individually.
