Anyone from Myrtle Beach or Virginia Beach?
As the title says, anyone from Virginia Beach or Myrtle Beach? Im moving to one next year. Myt wonderlust has gotten the best of me and after a talk with my dad about how much I want to live on a beach and how he is going to retire on a beach and how he wishes he was my age again to do it lol I have decided to.
How is the cost of living there? Im sure I can find a decent job there. I have worked for my dads HVAC/Plumbing company since i was small. I was a Plumbing Specialist at Lowes and a counter slalesman at an HVAC Supply House and now am a full time HVAC tech and installer with my dad. TO give some perspective in Southern Indiana here, I made $14 an hour/40 hours a week at the supply house and had my own apartment and new truck and was living comfortably. Im sure itll be higher there
I have found apartments in the $600 to $700 range. Is that average? I dont need to live on the beach and would rather live in town to save money. ANy close towns that are cheaper?
Any input would be awesome. Im taking a vacation in a monmth to go check them out.

Cost of living in the Hampton Roads area is kinda high. Factor in Beach area and Military. Military drives up the COL mostly because of married Dual military couples, both making excess of $40k each. So that drives up cost cause they know they can get the money. Being Beach area explains itself.
The average for a 1 bedroom appt is like $725 or better, unless you find a ghetto. Beachfront itself, looking at easy $900 or better for 1 bedroom.
By yourself, you'll need to make at least $18-$20 an hour. There are others that do live there that are making less and/or have rent for less, not saying it's impossible. Pretty sure some others will chime in. I left the area last Feb, 08, was in the Navy for 10 years before that and stationed in that area for 9.

Yeah, Hampton Roads is Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesepeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Newport News and Hampton. AKA the 7 Cities, VB is the largest of the 7. Norfolk is the home to the Navy's Atlantic Fleet.

You'd be better off in Myrtle Beach. It's boring down there, so the girls have nothing better to do than get laid. I just moved to the Tidewater area from Utah. I don't like it here. Can't wait until the move gets reassigned somewhere else. We went to Myrtle Beach for our honeymoon over 4 years ago. We liked it so much that agreed to revisit the area every 5 years.
