Cool The Dreaded Hop

I tried the "Stiffy" but wasn't satisfied with the results. Some people swear by them. I've mentioned it before, as soon as my mounts are installed mine will be available for sale.
The are two ways that I know of to limit hop without aftermarket parts. One is to have DOC flash you for lower torque during takeoff. The other is simply to physically limit your takeoff which means personal adjustment of the throttle/clutch during launch(a learned skill). The latter of the two is easily eliminated in times of adrenaline when you think you need that little extra to take somebody off of the line. Your foot naturally wants to mash the throttle thinking that your car is going to respond exactly the way you want it to. I believe both will limit your hole shot but ofcourse I'm always open to correction if somebody knows better.
The danger of hop is to your drivetrain as many on the forum can attest to. It's like bending a wire back-n-forth, eventually it breaks. You jerk on something enough, it's going to break. The disadvantage of hop is the power is not being transferred to the ground where you need it to get down the course.
Even if you can eliminate wheelhop entirely (possible?) you still have to deal with spin. Spin, again, is a matter of throttle/clutch control.
It's also a matter of how much you want to spend on tires. Tire cost is a concern for two reasons. If your spinning all the time and smoking your tires, you have to buy more ($$$). If you want super sticky tires, they are going to cost more ($$$). And ofcourse, when you get the sticky tires, and have done everything you can to eliminate hop ($$$), you have to be worried about the axles snapping ($$$), or the clutch burning out ($$$). As you can see, it's an endless cycle of "What's the next weakest link?" and the most important question for most, "What can I afford?"

Have I ranted enough or lost you at any point.

MAN! I should write a book and get paid for this stuff.

Well guys, I couldnt make the last meet due to a last minute wedding I was invited to...but I got a little feedback from the meet. We have a lot that needs to be accomplished here soon. I would like to try to get a list posted on the site of all the upcoming shows for this year...there are A LOT!!!!!!! I think that would make it easier for us to prepare for things...we will have to get that going at the next meet. Also, I will have registration forms for the show at Ft. Eustis....

that sounds like a good idea DOC thank you for your help..

and for SHANNON i will help u install the kit.. its very very easy... all i did was take a flat tip screw driver and popped them out.. all it is is just metals clips holding it on there.. very simple to pop out.. may take a lil bit of force but no big. make sure when u order it u get the right kit though.. the kit lee ordered me was for a 2007 cause the information and reset button panel is on the CD changer and that replacement red panel did not have the holes in it. he was gonna order me a nother kit and just swap out that 1 piece. but ill be glad 2 help.. also DOC what is the tune for?

Um... I'm the one with the SS/SC injectors. The harness should be here soon as well as a new muffler I bought. I also put in a 4 point harness in my drivers seat. Its very nice and tight!
Marerick, that was me thinking about black and blue. What type of paint did you use? How much was it and where did you get it?

Oh, heh, didnt know you bought them too Steve-o

Well, the 4 point harness was a success and it feels wonderful. So simple, yet effective. So anyone up for a little tuning? I need to set my car so it can handle the injectors, and then Im going to look into timing and all of that fun stuff. Does anyone know if Tag makes a tune for the 2.4L?

Art, you're confusing me here.
If you truly want to stop wheel hop there are a few things you can do all of these, a combination or none of them.
learn to launch the car
control arm bushings
poly motor (passenger side) and/or transmission mounts (front and rear)

I have a poly front transmission mount I am selling. Its never been used.
