July 21st - Milan T+T, and elimination racing! (everyone welcome!)

Alright, the plans for another meeting are upon us.

People polled that Friday would be the best day for this so here is how it works.

July 21st, Test and Tune at Milan Dragway (Milan Michigan)
schedule:
The spot on Telegraph is still a good spot to meet and leave from, so we'll use it for a 3rd time. Sorry if this is backtracking for anyone.

Meeting at 11500 Telegraph Road in Taylor Michigan (just south of Goddard rd.), from 2:30 - 3:15ish
When we leave, we'll head north 2 miles, jump on I-94 west to 23 south (the ramp is now open). Milan is off the Plank Road exit on 23.

We're going to try and LEAVE the lot at 3:20 or so, and arrive at the gates at 4pm sharp! If you cannot make it out to the lot for the pre-meet and caravan down, you are MORE than welcome to show up right at Milan (on time or late, whatever you want). We'll try to have a nice large space laid out for all the Cobalts/Redlines/SRTs whatever we got. If you find a group like that, feel free to park yourself right in there too.

This is aimed at Cobalts/Redlines, but i'll be in the SRT again, and i hope i can get a few more SRTs out there. Everyone is welcome, invite as many friends as you like. According to Milans website, the cost is $20 to race and participate, and only $12 for spectators.

This wont be insanely formal, but i'll put my number out incase someone has an emergency they need to inform the group about. my cel, 248-755-3078.

Get off work if you can, T+T is only from 4pm to 7:30pm, then the elimination racing starts (with minimal T+T between sessions). If you arrive too late, you may not get to run much, which is why we must keep on schedule.

Goodluck, and hope to see a fine turnout (for a weekday anyway)!

I am planning on going but I will probably just meet at Milan. Hey Zenkat, do you know anyone in Farmington with a blue SRT-4 with stock exhaust? I thought it was you but then I saw the exhaust.

Hey zenkat, count me in. The lot on Telegraph is on my way home from work, so I will meet there. I am going to try and get my son to come out too. He has the EVO9 MR that I was in the Downriver Cruise with. It should be a good time to put his stock MR up against my slightly modded SS/SC.

Cool. If anyone else wants to yell in this thread that theyre planning on going, great. A rough headcount is always nice to have.

Will have to assume it ends at Midnight like the other one. They dont list it on the website. Could end as early as dusk, or however long it takes to finish their import vs. domestic racing thing.

Yup, the spot on Telegraph in Taylor still. I'm not feeling a lot of enthusiasm from people this time around. But there should be a half dozen of us at least.

Hey Zenkat, Scott is planning on coming with the EVO9 and one of his friends with a 95 Firebird. Also, I have invited a couple of guys from HPVO at GM and it sounds like we will get a souped up bug, and maybe a redline out of that deal. We may not fill up the parking lot on telegraph, but I think we will get a decent showing at the track. The guy with the bug said that on the 22nd, there is a bugfest at Milan and he was going to try and get some of those guys there on friday night as well. Believe it or not, Keith says some of these bugs run high 10's. Has this meet been appropriately advertised on .com?

Also, Frank, did you get a email list of all the guys at the first meet so we can make them aware of this in mass?

Last but not least, we talked at the original meet about formalizing the group with a name and what not. I suggested the Detroit Area Tuning Association (DATA). Is there any interest in doing this and does anyone know where to start to do it? I would be happy to do some of the leg work if the interest was there and I knew what to do.

If you Frank or Zenkat want to discuss the club thing, give me a buzz at 734-776-3640. Or anyone else for that matter.

Mike

Excellent, i saw the Bug event listed on Saturday. Good to know we got a good bunch of us. I already posted this on .com, redlineforums, srtforums, and the S.E.E. guys.

Not a bad idea trying to start up a local club, but the problem is the amount of them already. XceedSpeed already covers the Detroit area pretty well, i'm just not highly involved with them. I just happen to see them and park around them at the Redline club meets at 11mile/Inkster and when they move out to Woodward in the evenings (Fridays/Saturdays). That's aimed mostly at the sport compact crowd though.

I was just shooting this toward the LSJ guys because i like watching them get faster at the track. I've already seen plenty of SRTs run down the 1320, as well as driving my own. It isnt nearly as impressive anymore. But... meeting new open-minded car guys of all types is always nice.

edit - I suppose Frank could try contacting people from his previous list, but most of them surf one of these forums, so I assume they've seen the threads. I'll bump them up for fun though.

Ok I will definately be there. My best friend may bring the GOAT with him. I hope to run a very low 14 if not high 13. My launching is awesome on the street. We will see how that translates to the track.... Ill probably end up running a 15 lol

Bump.

Only 4 days left. I hope my car is up for this. Damn thing is putting out blue smoke on idle randomly, and my last trip to Milan was running 3-4mph slower in the traps
