It's confirmed, I'll be there. My buddy is coming up as well. I don't know if he's bringing his GN or his northstar powered 6spd Fiero. Dave Might also come with me since I doubt he'll have the Firehawk ready....
Hope to meet some of you Cobalt guys there.

Humm,

Stock pulley, but tuned and NOS? From what I heard you never broke 14's but I could be wrong. Can you post a timeslip with your number? Not saying it's not possible, but from what I heard it didn't happen. I thought Brian (06BLACK) was talking to you in the pits at the end of the day and he told me you said you were running consistant 103mph and couldn't break into the 13's. Maybe I heard wrong. The traction for the cobalts were terrrible from what everyone was saying. No cobalt SS could hook there in 2nd without a set of slicks.

Brian told me some guy claimed to have a stock pullied car, but had a braided line comming off his shreader valve and solinoids off to the side.

So I figure this way you.

He was the black 05 Cobalt SS there with the 2.5 pulley that I tuned. He ran 108mph pretty much all day, but had traction issues in 1st and 2nd. He was running bald Kumho tires so his et's were nothing spectacular 14.1's at 108mph.

Either way, congrats on a fun day and the times.

Should look into a pulley instead of spraying the car. You can run those times all the time and not just on the bottle like Brian(06black) does with his setup. 108mph and with tires would be low 13's high 12's like my car.

Daren I was a constant 106mph....made a few faster(107/108) but slower(et wise) runs. prob due to all the dam wheel hop i was geting all thro 1st and all 2nd.

My best and from what i was told by a few others was the fastist run by an LSJ was a shity low 14.....

Daren is dead on on the traction issue. my semi/mostly bald Kumho were ok but even with boost ramp i was unable to launch much higher then 2k...and thats with a quick roll off the clutch...not a dump. then i had to shift out of 1st at 4-4.5k as the boost rolls in to avoid wheel spin in 2nd but that casued a bog for a sec then i ran it out to 7400 then into 3rd hard and all the way out.

i did track my runs on my intercepter just to see if its close and HOT DAM!...its was real close...gave me the same time as my timeslip and it was a little high on MPH.

between my house and my dorm(where i'm at now) i have my time slips....here are a few pics of the ones i have here.

heres a slow run but with good MPH

this is my best from the day ET wise...

It was fun ya'll and that dam impala was quick!....i hate people with traction!

see ya'll next year?

EDIT-

good story from the ride home....

at the track there was a black camaro(sp?) SS that was runing mid/high 12's all day....on the way home i end up runing into him on the highway.

so as my self and my lil LSJ convoy (myself, tom and kyle) were headin home with tom and his yellow ss/sc up front then me then kyle in his red RL in back. the guy trys to play with tom but tom waves him tward my car so i'm all for a good street race rite now...

we line up around 60ish and i hear him gun it so i drop into 3rd and pull on this guy like no ****** tomorrow thro 3rd and shut down in 4th with a good size lead....

i guess it goes to show what solid traction can do time wise on the track....it was fun tho!

yea, it was a lot of fun, but i would have to say traction was the issue for jsut about anyone (altho stock tires aren't the best) i would try to lauch/roll in at 1.5K-2k rpm and i still couldn't hold taction...thats with only 30% boost(i believe) so...yea...was a great time tho...was my first time ever to a track and i will go again next year!

totally worth the 600+ mile drive i made to go there...yet i was in michigan the whole time (UP FTL)

i had decent traction but my clutch is shot to hell, so when i would spray in 3rd it would slip so i would let off and i still went 13.8. but ill dig up the slip

I'm telling you guys, you all need to get a set of Hoosier QTP's on 16's or 15in rims with MT slicks and you all would be low 13's high 12's easy with that MPH.... 106-108 with 1.95 60foot = 12's

Look at the other lane in that timeslip.... TRACTION IS THE KEY!!!!

Yeah Daren, I am mounting M&H slicks on my 15s and running them next season. The Drag Radials have been good but I am ready for some more traction.

You should hook 1.8 60's with those

Ya, looks like no matter how much power the cars make, the weak link in these cars are as follows:

1st= clutch.... (1fstss and twzted) found that out this weekend. Doesn't matter how much power you have if the clutch can't hold it.

2nd= traction..... (06black and others....stock tires = no no at the track) We all know that.... slicks or drag radials are a must for a track day. Otherwise your wasting time just spinning down the track getting beat by impalla's

3rd= Once you have the above 2...... your going to break an axel like I did when I hooked some 1.9 60ft's. First few runs were great, but only time will tell when the axel will have enough. I had to order the upgraded axels. All the power in the world will do us no good untill we can put it to the ground.

4th= Next time I go I'm bound to break something else So I'll let you guys know the next limitation. I've already blown my intake gaskets. Looking at October 28th at the Motown Muscle event.
