superfly sundays

Fromt the 330Tuning Forums:

Effective 06-07-2010, 330Tuning's weekly car cruise-in, Superfly Sundays, has been CANCELLED until further notice.

Unfortunately, the inappropriate behavior and actions of a small number of attendees has ruined this event for everyone. Over the past few weeks, legitimate and founded complaints have been made by surrounding businesses to the City of Akron and Ampco Parking Services, who manage the lot for the City of Akron, regarding the conduct and actions of certain individuals that allegedly are attendees of Superfly. Problems include, but are not limited to, people littering the lot with garbage, cars doing burn-outs in the parking lot, and racing down South Main Street. Considering how many people attend Superfly, it takes just 1% of the population… a few people… to cause enough trouble to give the event and club a bad reputation. These are immature and irresponsible people who have no respect for authority (including 330Tuning event staff) or regards for other people's property. They are the trash of society, strickened with poor attitudes, raised by deadbeat parents, trying to show-off what little they have, that have no place at an event like ours... they are not welcome and we will not baby-sit them. They do not positively reflect the values of 330Tuning and its' members.

This past Sunday’s Superfly was a prime example. We had 3 notable incidents of stupidity, most witnessed by representatives from 330Tuning and Ampco, including one person intercepted and arrested in the lot by APD, allegedly for drugs and/or paraphernalia. Their white DSM Eclipse/Talon with blue wheels was towed. One person in a black Fox-body Mustang (ERQ 5748) that did a burnout in one of the lot aisles and then sped through the lot right past us. And another person in a white Dodge Ram (EJE 7359) attempting to do a brake-torque burnout in the lot driveway, waiting for the traffic signal to change.

The couple of us who have volunteered our time every week, simply cannot effectively and safely manage an event of this size, that has grown from a small group of club members and friends, to the point of typically drawing a couple hundred cars and even more people, spread across a few acres of land. 330Tuning is a "free" car club, with no membership dues, that does not have corporate sponsorship from any businesses. Superfly Sundays has been hosted on city property, so we cannot charge admission or parking fees. Therefore, it is impossible to finance the police security and liability insurance needed to safely run this family-friendly event going forward.

After discussions with representatives from Ampco, who also represent the City of Akron, 330Tuning has decided to cancel Superfly Sundays.

330Tuning thanks the majority of you that have acted responsibly and showed your support for Superfly, including fellow area car clubs like Eurovagens, Forced 4’s and Cleveland Mazda 6 Club. We also thank the City of Akron and Ampco Parking Services for graciously allowing us the use of the lot, it has been much appreciated.

its too bad it was a pretty good time this year
