2.0t lnf for automatic rwd.

Hi I have an opel gt that I'm want to find an engine and automatic rwd for the car. I'm wondering how big is the bellhousing and back on the engine?

My car is a 1.9l and they say the ecotec was built based on the opel motor but others say the ecotec is wider on the bellhousing side.

I have a getrag 4 speed in it but i broke my hip and cant use a clutch anymore so im looki g for an automatic. (Incase someone asks why not a standard.) The car is only 2000 lbs so a 300-350hp engine would be way overkill buy an automatic will hopefully keep it a little more time and not drift so easily.

The car has a 9 or 9.5 inch clutch from what I read on different places. Some are saying a Ford 2.3t will fit in while others say only a 1.4 or up to a 1.8 miata engine will fit without cutting the firewall.

I thought of getting a ltg from a malibu and a bmw 6l45 that's the same as a cadillac cts but the lnf from a 2010 cobalt ss will most likely be cheaper than a sky but if i get the 5l50 from a bmw it would be the same as a sky.

I'm wondering if the engines actually have a longitudinal oil pan or if it needs to be changed? The ltg have a new version that is kinda in-between them so can be used for either from what I read. Can someone confirm?

Im taking off all the paint.

You can see the bumpouts on eather side after the firewall thats going to be the issue trying to fit the engine past it.

This is what i want it to look like afterwards

If the miata 1.8 fits then you're probably good with the LNF. Look up EcotecMiata where they make kits for swapping Ecotecs into Miatas for some ideas on how that swap goes, then you can try to translate some of that info to your project. However, IIRC, the miata guys had to "persuade" the transmission tunnel a little to get it to fit. You can look up my kit car thread to see how my LE5 swap went.

Ltg or lnf

Hi the person that I was going to get the lnf motor from bailed so im now looking at an ltg.

There is a group wack a doodle on YouTubeYouTubput a miata engine in so im sire it will get in there. I'll need to go make measurements to see how much longer and wider a 5l40 and 6l45 is compared to a t5. The t5 is exactly the same size as the original 4 speed. It also used a tm180 auto 3 speed auto in it.

some are saying the lgt is wider than the lnf. I might go south across the border to see if they have s cobalt ss available in Washington.

I think I like the lnf better but the cost of parts seem to be more expensive. What's that about?

the big thing is a lower crossmember for the engine. I'll take a look around. Thanks.
