LNF Crate Engine with Standalone EMS
Ok, lets say GMPP offered an LNF crate engine you could throw in a Civic, old rat rod, old golf, kit car, etc. and it came with a standalone engine management system so it would just be plug and play pretty much and it was offered at a good price ($2-4k) would you do it and make a track only car for cheap or what?
I wanna hear a lively debate in here or I'm gonna get physical!

i guess if you had the platform to play with, already in your posession, then its not a bad idea. but if you already own a ss/tc then itd be hard to not wanna focus your attention on that, when you go to any tracks. but assuming you dont drive the tc and just wanna slap that motor in something you already have, that needs a motor, it seems like a great idea.

im looking at building an mg midget and an ecotec would be a killer motor for it. the problem lies in the transmission choice, the only option is the solstice tranny that costs a fortune. i beleive there is a hellhousing to mount a t5 behind the ecotec, so that could be another option. i most likley would use the v6 i have built out of my old cavy, turbo it, should be good for 350hp in a car that would weigh 1800lbs.

rallyracer- You and my buddy would get along, he skeets over those ^^^^^ every day. Too bad theres almost no chance at them comming to the US.
I would like to put one in like a 280Z....I think that would be different than most people who just throw a big heavy v8 in them....

Im a old musclecar guy but i absolutely love when people do engine swaps like a LNF in an old camaro or firebird. I have several big blocks around but i cant take the 5-6mpg that i get with them in my mustang, not to mention they weight 600pounds and make my car understeer like crazy.

I'd be shocked if they offered it anywhere near that cheap. I don't mean to be negative, but cheaper options already exist, and with far better aftermarket support ; some modern civic/rsx are unbelievably boost friendly form the factory, sr20, 4G63 to name a few.

A solid stand alone is at least a grand. so 4,500++ shipping, etc. You aren't getting an lnf crate with a stand alone for under 5 grand. Not from GM anyway.
