2 coolant resevoirs?
2 coolant resevoirs?
Hey guys, I've been lurking around the site for awhile now, and I was curious as to why it looks like some of the cars on here from 07+ have two (2) coolant overflow tanks, one on each side of the engine.
I will be getting an SS rather soon, and the 07 that I am looking at getting, only has the one tank on the right side of the engine. Thus leaving a rather strange looking space on the left side of engine, behind the windshield washer fluid filler neck.
This leaving me feel rather confused.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

its just the option B tank.
its not a stock part. The one on the drivers side of the car is your engine coolant.
the one on the left is option b (it helps to cool your supercharger) and is also an aftermarket part.

Ok that makes sense then. The car im looking at is pretty clean and has 85k on it, and only one tank, which had me kinda thrown for a loop when I saw the large space so I thought I should look into it before I made a decision.
post up the link to the car here.
also, you may want to look in the for sale section here.
a lot of guys really take care of their cars and clean ones modded tastefully can be had for less than dealer prices.

Opt. B is for providing a constant bleed to the intercooler system.
Opt. B tank left, Engine Coolant Right
Heres the link to the car. He also sent me other pictures of engine and interior. Once I figure out how to post pictures, I'll get them on here.

Yeah, I noticed that too, from talking to the owner, he says that the body has 240k on it, and the motor has 85K and according to him its "built" but he sent me a photo of the engine, and it just looks like he grabbed a junkyard motor and stuck it in there.
it looks to me it has gm stg2. i doubt it has built motor. it has a down pipe of some kind.
5000 is somewhat cheap, however if you dont have deeeeeeeep pockets i would steer clear. if your looking for a clean ready to drive, no hassle car, this car is not for you. if you want a project and ready to spend then why not buy it.
the color is sweet, thats it.

for example, the car i have was a rebuild title. when i purchased it the guy who did the rebuild beat the **** out of it. needless to say it was in less then desirable condition. i had another write off balt already, so i took both cars and made 1 good car. now it is in very good condition, and by far better then the car i bought off the showroom floor.
i wouldnt say that, every car can be brought back to a nice minty condition with time and money. the question you need to ask yourself is how much your willing to spend and how much time you want to put in it.

which is why Im putting a lot of thought into this. It has potential. I can see it.
Like everyone said though, it needs time and money.
I have more than enough time, and generally speaking, all cars need money otherwise we should all own bicycles as our main mode of transportation.
Car enthusiasts are their own class of people, we take extra pride in cleanliness of our rides, and also extra special care in the upkeep of our vehicles, so as a hobby that we have, we knew it was going to be expensive when we first starting looking at parts.
If you're willing to put the time and money into it go for it. I would say just buy a new engine from zzp and get rid of the 85k engine, do a complete overhaul of the suspension and check for rust holes/spots
