2009 chevy cobalt stuck in park

Hello, I have a 2009 chevy cobalt and last month a clicking noise started coming from my shift and I could not get the gear to shift out of park. I took it to the shop nd they said it was the shift solenoid so they replaced it. 3 dayd later and its doing the same thing except now my headlights ate flashing off and on along with the clicking noise and car stuck in park...please help!!

So does the selector shift out of park? or is it physically stuck in park as well?

Gm, it's physically stuck as well. I have to turn the switch back as if I'm about to start it for about 5 minutes. Then I start the car and although the clicking noise is still there but once i do that i am able to get it out of park.

I have a manual so I'm not sure but isn't there a mechanism that locks the selector into park when your key is off? Also not sure if it releases without pressing the brake? Is that the solenoid they replaced? If it is it sounds like something is getting jammed up. I wouldn't think it should dim your lights but maybe the solenoid is trying to engage but something else is wrong.

Yes, they replaced the solenoid on Wednesday and on Friday it started back with the clicking noise and I wasn't able to get it out of park. It's back at the shop now so as soon as they tell me what's going on I will update...thanks so much for replying!
