2009 Cobalt 2.2 LAP Tuning?

Hey everyone, I’m Trevor. I drive a base model cobalt.

I know it's been talked about before probably, but I'm looking for a little more direction. I'm getting an HP tuner, and I have no idea what I'm doing. My car is bone stock and needs some general maintenance stuff before I get into things, but I want to take the time to learn how to tune this thing. I think I understand the general idea, keep everything happy with the right ratios, but I have no idea what that looks like. I'm not looking to pay tons of money to take those online tuning classes, that seems like a waste of money to me.

Let me know what you guys think, I've been searching everywhere and I'm starting to lose hope that this will be a fun project. I'm just only getting into cars and working on them, so I'm just looking for some direction.

Welcome!

HPTuners has a forums where you can learn about tuning. Unfortunately I only have links to LNF or LSJ tutorials. Best bet is to search on their forums but hopefully someone else can help here.

The excellent Redline Forums MAF & VE guide can be applicable to most Delta-platform cars. Especially for just starting out with a completely stock base model.
