AC Condenser fits tight against intercooler heat exchanger

Question: I have a 2006 Cobalt SS supercharged, LSJ, 2.0 liter, VIN P, and I just got my AC condenser replaced at the shop, and noticed when I got the car back that the condenser is pressed tight against the intercooler heat exchanger, metal to metal contact. This concerns me as it might eventually wear leaks in both the condenser and the heat exchanger. Are there supposed to be standoffs that separate the two?

How tight is tight? They are supposed to be in close proximity, but there is an air gap between the heat exchanger portions of both.

Direct contact, physically pressed against each other tightly, no air gap at all. Is there a safe way to add a spacer or washer to get even a 1/16 inch air gap?

There sure is, but I would question why they're like that now. The OE units have a mounting configuration built into them so that doesn't happen.

I would look at it and probably talk to the shop.
