Hello from South Jersey
Hello from South Jersey
Hey all. I'm new to this forum, but not new to working on cars and racing.
Just a lil background info about my past rides.
1998 Trans Am 6speed- Bolt ons, 3350# RW. 11.89 @ 118mph 1.83 60' on street tires
1999 Z28 6speed- bolt ons 3600# RW bolt ons 4.10 gears, 11.94@115.68 1.77 60' on 315 nittos (might as well have gone with street tires lol)
2001 Corvette, Automatic. Bolt ons, stall converter, 3.90 gears, tune, 2950# RW 10.75@124.5 1.38 60' on 275 40 17 Hoosier Drag Radials. Current Bolt on record holder for C5 corvettes (non z06) since March 2011
The reason why I'm here today- Well, I didn't buy a cobalt, but I picked up a complete LNF swap from a 2008 Cobalt SS a few months back. I was going to put it in my 2000 Cavalier Z24, then thought about putting it in my 1997 Saturn SC2. Finally, after giving it a little more thought, I decided on going with a 1988 Toyota MR2. I googled LNF MR2 and saw that some people were talking about it, but never actually went through with the swap. This is where I have stepped up to the task. I actually started on it about a month ago. I've been posting on the MR2 forums, but I will start a build thread on here shortly. I shouldn't catch as much flak from you guys as I did from the purists over there on the MR2 forums lol.
I am not new to "Hybridization," as My friend and I swapped a LS1 and automatic transmission into his 1999 Dakota R/T back in 2012. From what I could see from my searches on the internet, we were the first to do this kind of swap into a Dakota R/T. As a matter of fact, if you google "LS1 R/T," his truck will be the first to pop up lol. So far, it has gone 11.33@115.8mph on a 1.52 60.' We have big plans for it this year and will be shooting for that 9.9 pass.
I love drag racing, so I will be at Atco Raceway. I would also like to try out the twisties at Millville Motorsports Park
My main plans for the MR2 are
1.) get the weight down as low as I can while still retaining the interior, radio, and heat & A/C
2.) Intake, exhaust, up the boost and tune it. I saw that these cars make great HP and TQ numbers.
If I can make 325-350whp and weigh 2200-2400 with me in the car, I will be happy for a while. I'll talk about it more in my build thread.
