Hello everyone, as I knew would eventually happen, I am back on the net. I spent my time in the military working on my 05 SS/SC. My username was quikdcride. Too often at work you would hear, "Waite, GTF OFF COBALTSS.NET!!!" I learned a lot. Thank you to all the helpful people who made owning my SS a fun and educational experience. To everyone else, thanks for the entertainment. Leading up to me crashing my SS I struggled with what to get next, the sad market value of my car and what I saw on the forum. Seems like maybe 1 person if I can remember got an M3 the rest were all going Z06 etc, and I almost did. I paid 10,500 for my 2005 with 49k, stage II, injen cai and corsa touring Catback exhaust. I put in a pioneer dual din screen, put brand new FE5 suspension, control arms and Cannuck motorsports lowering springs. A TWM short throw was nice. I added some R1 slotted rotors with hawk hps pads which was probably the best improvement and always ran good year all season tires which were great. Everything else was pretty much cosmetic, shorty antenna, smoked led tail lights etc. I ended up putting it passenger side into a tree stump while "drifting" a dirt road and lost control at about 80mph. The damage was minimal, lost my front lip and pinned the passenger door shut but really wasn't that bad. It was deemed totaled and I ended up getting 10,800 from insurance. I stripped all the aftermarket parts and got some money back on those too. Not bad. Two days later I found a 1998 E36 M3 with 80k for 11,200. Picked that up and got used to the RWD life real quick. First time back end went out was on a on ramp at 120, I learned quick. After having it about 2 months, on New Years Eve 2011, after my back end went out, I had to spin the car to avoid a head on collision...with a brand new Mercedes SLS AMG Gullwing. Approx. damage, $219,000. Got that all cleared up. The very next day, with a snapped arm, fucked up back and concusion I test drove and bought my first 2002 E46 M3. It was downhill from there. Got another one, a 01 convertible and after about 4 years have a 02 E46 SMG. So different, I hate it. Can't even stand the 7 speed DCT on the E92 M3. While building that, I definitely need to get a Cobalt. SC/TC who really cares. Prices on them look pretty solid. Not sure if this will be a daily driver full restomod, or a ***** to the wall time attack racecar. Regardless I am looking for the best deal out. Adult owned, low miles, garage kept, little to no modifications. I loved the SC but the platform was weak for upgrades. I hate turbo's but with the upgraded brembo brakes, and a final production of 2011 I think? I may be better off going that route. I think this can be a good thread, please post any and all for sale or feelers. Also stories of your build, etc. Any BMW questions are welcome. Hope to keep this going and track a pretty awesome build. Thanks for looking, now I'll put up some pics.
