Just pick up a 2008 cobalt ss/TC!

Hello everyone I just traded my 2003 ram 1500 to some guy for his 2008 cobalt ss! It's a fun little car reminds me of my Evo. I just got it for a DD Bought a extended warranty for It as well! It has 91k (yeah alot but old owner drove a ton on the highway for work.) it's all stock except for a superchips programmer. Runs real nice and is decently quick. Ill post some pics soon! I'm on my iPhone now. But, quick question for y'all when the car is idling it kinda revs up and down but the rpms don't change kind of sounds like a mild cam? Think is the notorious throttle body issue? Where it gets dirty and causes that? Anyways just wanted to introduce my self. Look forward to reading all about the cobalt ss. Thanks guys,

Frank

Welcome.

Check for vacuum leaks. Dump the superchips for a good tune.

Enjoy the car.

LNF doesn't really have the notorious dirty TB issue as much.

You would probably want to log the car to see if it's misfires or load changes or something.

Do you have much in the way of service records? Ever had new spark plugs etc.

Welcome. Great car.

As others said, ditch the superchips. Get either GMS1, HPT or Trifecta. Don't ask which is better because there are pros and cons to each. Check out this thread for more info:

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/2-0l...-tunes-208105/

You may want to try changing the plugs and oil so that you know when it was done and that it was done correctly. Use the stock plugs and Mobil1 5wx30.

There is a common problem with the evap/purge solenoid on these cars that usually makes it hard to start. It may sound weird but mine had that kind of weird idle. I checked my solenoid and it was bad. Swapped it out and it ran like a champ. It's easy to check and the part is not expensive. Here's a vid. Yours will be in the front center of the engine bay.

Get pics up when you get a chance. Pics of old Evo too if you have any.

Thanks alot for all the help (unlike typical Evo forums) I just put the stock tune on and going to be putting the superchips up for sale. Gms1 sounds good because then I keep my warranty right? I will be doing plugs and oil tomorrow. Then I will check the other things out y'all said. I really appreciate it guys! Ill be posting pics up soon of all my cars! (2003 Evo 8, 2009 lancer ralliart, and the new cobalt) maybe one of my truck!
