Looking at an 06 SS need advice

Hello all!
Tomorrow I will be looking at an 06 SS. I am used to fast cars. I had a 87 Buick for 16 years. Loved that turbo. Now I have a 92 Dodge Daytone IRoc turbo that is EXTREMELY modded and extremely quick. Now I'm looking at a Cobalt. I would be happy with a reliable 12.5 second quarter mile car with A/C. How much will it take to get a stock car to that point. Money wise and parts. I am mechanically inclined.

It's a good price I think. Personally I owned 2 LNFs which I had to sell due to a loss of job, and I would never consider an LSJ, but for $5k, if the car is in good shape, is ok.

Also.. It has a stage 3 clutch it also has a straight pipe exhaust (I'm reding the text conversation). He says it has a straight pipe exhaust and that is the reason the check engine light is on.. That's a little concerning. Any thoughts on that??

Hmmmm. At least 4k... Maybe I'd stick to a 13 to mid 13 car on that one. It couldn't be to costly to get them cars into a mid 13 range.

Well. It was a POC nothing good about it. Buy here pay here, rattle can spray paint job on driver door complete with runs, burn hole in the excellent seat. Rough. No deal

I did look at a very nice 06 bright red. Beautiful. Well cared for. No mods except K&N cold air.
Newer tires bought at reputable Honda dealer a year ago. He has put several thousand miles on the car since he bought it. Car has 149,000 miles on it. He's down to 5500.
Is it worth it???

I wouldn't pay $5500 for one with 150k miles.
