New Black SS/SC
New Black SS/SC
Hello all! Been stalking this form since I got my car in December. Finally decided I should become an official member of the awesome CSS.net!
I picked up this beauty after selling my 96' TA. I had recently moved to Crystal Lake area from the country. The TA just did not enjoy daily driving and traffic and all that jazz. So I waved goodbye to her (I actually cried when she left. ha) but after spending so many hours tinkering with her and changing her optispark like every other month, I decided it was time to say goodbye.
The car is a Cobalt SS/SC bone stock with 73k miles on her. Two weeks ago I got my ZZP stage 3 kit with a 2.8. It totally woke the car up and made me smile every time I pushed her. Along with the airbox mod, she is really running strong. I have been monitoring my IAT's and have noticed they like to creep up to about 80 above ambient. Which is definitely too high (although with this Chicago winter she hasn't been above 130 yet, so I should be okay for now) but I definitely need a new IC pump.
I got rear ended just last week. Hit me pretty hard but amazingly there was like one tiny scratch on the bumper. I was amazed! After opening the trunk tho it was very obvious where the force had gone, the steel bumper support had been pressed into the trunk area compacting that and rippling the trunk bed. His insurance agreed to full liability for it, so she's at the shop right now. Lucky for me my boss knew the body shop boss so their respraying my roof for me as part of the "fix", as it had a small 7 inch sunspot/clear peeling. SO it'll all work out just fine I guess.
Been driving a fully loaded 2014 Cruze till she's done. The Cruze is amazing, but she's so boring compared to my SS.
Cheers all! Cannot wait to get my car back.

Welcome. Sorry to hear she's in the shop. I got rear ended a couple years ago. It was pretty bad. My trunk wouldn't open. The guy who hit me caused 4000 in damage. But his insurance covered it all. They're pretty tuff cars.

Nice ride sorry about the accident. Check all the gaps and fitment and don't take it back if anything isn't right. Sounds like you got a decent shop though. Welcome aboard and see you at CED right?
Thanks a bunch for the warm welcome guys! CED sounds awesome, and I will definitely try to make it there. Got the car back, she looks good as new! Plus she's got a brand new roof too.
Definitely considering blacking the wheels. Just gotta decide between painting them myself or getting the powder coated. Only reason I would paint is to be a cheapo.
