You meant to say that you took out the ignition coils and the tops of the plugs are covered in oil. Which means you no longer have a seal on the valve cover. That can fail the plugs. Get a new VC gasket, new plugs, clean out the plug wells, and see if it's any better.

You may want to get some help. Last thing you want to do is strip any of those bolts, especially the spark plug threads.
