Cool New to the Community

Hi everybody,

Just purchased a 2006 Chevy Cobalt LS Black 4dr with 186,000 miles for $500. Needs a little TLC, no rust but some paint chips on the hood, scratched up in places, chip in the windshield that unfortunately spread with the previous owner before I could repair it. plastic grill is cracked a rattles a little. Idles a little rough, Cylinder 1 misfire. and besides the passenger door handle breaking with previous owner, it is in great shape. I previously owned a 2004 Chevy Cavalier 2 door red, sunroof, engine stopped due to the timing chain tensioner in the 2.2L ecotec engine, which sucked still owed $2,200 on it still. So this car is a huge break. Any advice anybody has tips or tricks on this, so far awesome deal/car, Please feel free to post. Thank you for reading and welcoming me to the community.

EDIT: Will be taking pictures and adding it to my gallery later.

Welcome! Timing chain tensioner is a cheap and easy fix. Look around, lots of good information here.

Thanks. I've noticed all of the great information on here, which is why I've signed up for the site. We torn down that 2004 Cavalier and found the tensioner caused the chain to jump and it really messed up the engine, bent valves and all. Still have to move the stereo system from the cava to the cobalt. But first things first need to make sure it is mechanically sound.
