Hey guys, just bought a white Cobalt Coupe LT, and wanted some ideas for mods to increase power, as well as making it look better. My budget is about $2500 Canadian, already planning to black out all the chrome, as well as the rims. Any suggestions welcome!

Welcome fellow Manitoban! This forum is a great place to start gathering info for what you want to accomplish. One question is it auto or manual?
2500 is a good budget to get some go fast. Best bang for your buck would probably be a supercharger kit off an ss sc. Used kits can be had for 500-800$ and as is are good for around 220whp and relatively safe with a good tune (which will cost a few hundred more at least. That and an exhaust upgrade and you are in for a descent car. With money left over for a clutch (if your manual) and some suspension upgrades.

Thanks for the advice SlapBet, its an auto, couldn't find a manual for the other features i wanted, also looking at getting a cold air intake secondhand off kijiji.

Not allot of gains to be had with basic bolt ons on the 2.2
And things like the cold air intake would not be compatible if you decided to go boosted afterword. It takes allot of money to make a noticeable power difference on a NA build. I would save my money if I were you as far as cold air intake is concerned. Decide now weather you want to go turbo or supercharged and you can start planning your build. If your going supercharged you could start with basics like full exhaust (you wouldn't need to change anything on the exhaust side with a supercharger)

Not quite sure about the power standpoint, id love to be able to get the wheels spinning thats for sure

If your happy with the mid to low 200whp a supercharger and 2.5" exhaust either a mid length or longtube header will make it a quick ride. It will sound quite a bit louder Plus some supercharger wine.
With the autos the shift points can be tuned for quicker shifts and more aggressive shift points. I'm not too familiar with the autos but there is good info on this site as well as lots of knowledgeable people.

Enjoy your commuter car. Maybe change out the head unit and speakers.
No need for an aftermarket exhaust. The shifts sound terrible on an auto plus you'll do almost nothing for power.
I'm assuming this is your first car? Keep it stock and reliable. Nothing like blowing up your only mode of transportation.
Buy something with more potential later.
