Lurking for about 6 weeks, still digesting.

Previous wastes of resources,

Grand National, Typhoon, 95 Impala SS, S/C Regal GS, 95 LT1/4L60 powered Volvo 240.

Picked this over a 04 GTO because I'm going try some autoX instead of straight line.

75K, GMS1, no other mods.

G85, rubber mats, and spare tire are the only options. Came with another set of OEM wheels (slightly scratched from a car wash) that will be the track setup.

Mid/West side of MI, Grattan is 15 miles from me, I took an 04 GTO there last year. I'm looking forward to something other than drag racing (although everything in my garage makes a trip down the 1/4).

Thanks for reading my rambles, I'll go back to lurking for awhile.

Chris

E85 is everywhere around me.......maybe that's the way to go.

Or.

I"m thinking I/C, catted d/p with a dump, and a tune. I don't need to worry about having a cat in MI but I don't want it to be any louder. I really would like to stay fairly stock appearing and sounding. It's not my DD but I would like to put my wife and two little ones in it and enjoy the trip.

I'll leave the suspension alone until I have some laps under my belt, I think (hope) I've learned over the years to research and mod slowly as needed instead of throwing ton of parts at something and then battling to make it all work together.

Thanks for the compliment, it does clean up nicely.

Ten months later.

Of course because of Michigan's love of rock salt it sat till April.

Zero mods, trip to an SCCA event, first time ever for me. 22 out of 62 overall, first place in novice. Very thankful for limited slip. Car is surprising to a number of seasoned competitors including a CAM participant.

Past weekend I steal a few hours on Sunday for a trip to the local strip for test and tune. Horrible 2.18 60, 13.73 @ 105.83. Embarrassed to say it has a 13.4 @ 107+ in it if I could figure out how to drive it. NLS is great once in second but I bumped the rev limiter every pass on the 1-2 shift.

Overall I'm very happy I went this way over a LS2 goat, it's fast, handles, and gets 30 mpg which isn't important but fun to talk about.

I spend so much time explaining this car to people, I have narrowed it down to "classic gm, refine a car till it's really good then promptly pull the plug. Think GNX, 88 Fiero, TTA, ect."

Luckily I was able to snag one of these, it's going to stick around for some time;-)

Some advice- get out of 1st gear at 6,000 rpm verses bumping rev limiter. Car is losing power at that point on stock turbo. Your 60ft isn't that bad for fwd as it's hard to get a good 60 being fwd. are you running e?

Was 22nd raw time or PAX? What tires are you running?

Either way at 22nd overall I'd say you are doing really well especially for your first outing in the car.

I wasn't on the limiter on purpose, it came up so quickly in first that it caught me sleeping. I had no luck NLS the 1-2 so I had that big dip into second which may have been a blessing as bad as the track was prepped.
No E, just 1/4 of 93.
I'd love to go E85, it's available everywhere around me, I know I can get a sensor to let me know the E rating but I don't want to do any tuning on the fly. I would love to tie a flex fuel sensor in and have it adjust accordingly.

22 was raw, 12th PAX. RE050A's that were new when I got it. If I do a lot more I'll put (I insert latest super sticky tread wear 100 "dot's" here) on the other stock wheels. I did no tuning, i never even played with the tire psi. Understeer made my first ever trip to a solo event safer ;-)

You can get manual e testers on amazon, looks like a test tube, work just fine. E47 is a sweet spot for stock turbo cars. You think the 1-2 shift is bad in your car, try a car with 4.45 gears....
