New owner and member of 08 lnf

Hello,

I'm hyped to say the least, as I have just purchased a 2008 lnf .... I think it's Base. Has a sunroof and a newer engine. The engine has an issue which I will be fixing .... Few little details that I'll be fixing.

Non g85 I believe, which wouldn't have been my first choice, but for the price, I could also do LSD inserts or a lsj g85 tran.

Anyone know anything about the traction concepts LSD inserts?? .... As good as quality as the team green components?? This will only be a summer car for me.

Cheers.

Yup, apparently the seller checked that and it's not g85 .... I'll check it again when I receiv the car.
And I'll also post pictures ....

The sure way is, checking the part number on the tran likely ....

Yes on part number for sure, to be sure it hasn't been changed out at least. I have not heard of anyone doing that.

Well the engine has been replaced for some reason .... Not numbers matching, ohhhhhh resale value issues 😁😀 ....
Soooo if the engine has been replaced, then it would be a nice suprise if it also had a transmission swap at some point, but not likely.

Yup .... Likely the way I'll go if I find a cheap enough trans .... I like the idea of a lsj G85 tran.

Also could someone point me in the right direction (link maybe) as to a thread stating what OEM GM rims will fit over lnf brembos .... I like the OEM idea because, it's likely cheaper .... What do people think of hhr SS rims on a Cobalt SS ??

I like the HHR wheels myself but good luck finding them. I’m in Burlington any chance I may have seen you at Queenston and Nash over the summer?

I found a set .... But I think I prefer the cobalt lnf wheels over the hhr SS ones for some reason.

No unfortunately .... I have yet to receive the car as I'm shipping it to Ontario from where I bought it.
but it's gonna be out and about this spring and summer coming up ....

I'm gonna need to do some timing chain system work on my car first things, by the "sounds" of it.

Will the linked kit work for holding the cams when removing the valve cover??
https://www.amazon.com/OTC-6685-Cam-Tool-Line/dp/B007QV0YL6

And is there a DIY somewhere on here for it ??
I think I found it once, but I can't find it now .... Is it the same DIY as a lsj ?? I'm looking for the tensioner replacement DIY.

Thanks,

You should do a look-over on the vehicle before you start throwing parts at it.
Found this: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/atta...stallation.pdf

The search on the site kind of sucks, but if you google site:cobaltss.net {insert search terms here} you'll generally find what you're looking for.

My friends that are professional car reseller's looked over at and thought it was the timing chain .... As well as the symptoms pointed to that being the issue .... So I'm preparing so it doesn't end up taking long to repair .... Haven't bought any parts for it as of yet ....

Awesome thanks for the tip regarding searching .... I will do that more.

And thanks for the doc.

So I've already searched ....

Anybody used ottp timing bolts??
I'm thinking that well I'm doing my tensioner to also change my timing bolts if there's any problems with them and even if there isn't ....

So dirty though .... Stupid salty winter .... Gonna wash it off. Store inside.

It's super low .... Lowered evenly front to back .... Any idea what brand of springs they are?
Most are forward a bit.

Cleaned a bit .... Needs some tlc

Well it's inside .... Needs a new battery, tensioner likely, and major cleanup ....
im gonna try and find new doors for it .... In yellow .... As the doors are a little rough .... Something must have bashed the door b pillar a bit on the driver's side .... Paint has has flaked off .... No rust that I noticed.

Pretty hyped as the seller said it wasn't g85 but looking at the RPO co it is .... Saves me time from swapping the tran, as long as it's still the original factory g85 tran in it. Engine got changed at one point .... I'm gonna check the tran part number today for clarification.

Has sportlines .... That's the last spring I'd ever want to run.
Anybody have some CM or SSC or ZZP or YYZ V7 or most preferably OTTP springs for sale??

the front bumper has been replaced. Has the vehicle been in an accident?

AS for the G85 trans, easiest way is to jack the car up and spin the wheels. if they both spin the same way than its LSD.

Exactly .... Although I'd like the rear a tad higher .... I think these may have sagged a bit.

I'm think OTTP springs for the height and ride I want.
