I have to admit that this is my 2nd post, since my 1st was on a specific thread about lower control arms.
I just picked up my first SS last summer, but it's my now 4th Cobalt overall. I jumped right on the bandwagon in '05 when I had started looking at Cavaliers the year before and heard about the Cobalt. I thought to myself, "I am definitely waiting another year for those." Bought the '05 fresh and put about 100k on it before moving on to my '08 (also new). The '08 has been my baby now for 11 years. She was just 9 miles old when I got her, and now we're slightly over 280k. She's been to some fun places, including Notre Dame and Annapolis. The clutch lasted 260k miles before finally needing replaced. Love that car. My 3rd one was my wife's sedan, which she only kept a little over a year before moving up to an SUV.
I have to admit, the SS (with only 70k+ miles on it currently) has been my most frustrating one, and not just because it's an automatic (I know, boooo, but that's all I could find at that time). Earlier this year, I had to replace the fuel neck (rusted out). I never heard of such a thing needing to be replaced with that mileage. I know that Cobalts are known to rust, but 70k? The exhaust was replaced at the end of last year (#rust). Now, I'm in the suspension game, again, looking for lower control arms. She also needs new wheel hubs.
I am excited to join another Cobalt forum. From what I've read, I will be amidst a pool of extremely knowledgeable SS enthusiasts. I look forward to the feedback and advice.
Taken right after getting the SS. Facebook caption was, "Well this is awkward. I just figured that you two should meet."
