Newbie in Chicagoland

Hello all. Just had my 2006 Cobalt LT that I've owned since new totaled out, so I picked up a 2008 Cobalt Sport to replace it.

I'm digging the Sport model. Rides a little stiffer than the LT model, but I like it. Just wish this one had the factory remote start option.

Mine is an auto, so no issues with remote start. I ended up going with the Viper 4806v 2 way remote start. Now I can start my car down in the parking garage from my 6th floor office.

if it's an '07 or newer you can get a remote from GM that will start the car

Yeah, but the factory remote start has the same range as the factory keyless entry, which is nothing special. Even the GM accessory 2 way long range remote start only doubles the factory remote range, and that setup costs $470 installed and has a 12 month warranty. The Viper was only $360 installed and has a lifetime parts and labor warranty, and has a 1 mile range. I'm very happy with the Viper now.

My mom had an hhr had an option in the DIC for it. I don't see that option in my car. Said remote start on or off.

I read about that on the HHR forums, and was hoping it would apply to my 08 Cobalt. No luck, I don't have the DIC option either. So aftermarket I went.
