old new guy

Im 61 and bought my sons 2006 Cobalt from him, He wants to buy it back everytime I see him but I drive 20 miles to work and love the gas mileage so I'm keeping it. I cant believe the Pioneer stereo in it also. Jam's good. Been reading about the hard shifting and after hours I know it can be about a 100 things. It just had the T/C light with hard shifting but its been going on for 2 years. I finally read a post to pull the emergency lever up one notch and it shifts good but it dings that the brake is on. I let it off and pulled it up to where it doesn't hit the first notch and it was shifting ok. I will go to a parts store to have them check codes as the engine light came on a month ago. I had a front wheel bearing go out and the shop that fixed it before the engine light come on said all sensors checked good as I told him about the hard shifting.

ITs the 2 vvt actuators on top of the valve cover on the left side. Common problem.

Welcome. Great to see more older new guys in here (I'm 55).
About the hard shifting, you may need to replace the shift cables. Replacing them on my car (per recommendation from John Powell, a God when it comes to Cobalts) fixed my issues.
Post some pictures!

Welcome...

I did about the same. Took back the Sport I purchased for my son when he was 16.
