2.4 NX Questions

Since we know that the 2.4 can handle some decent power thanks to the folks at hahn making the turbo kit, what size shot can be run on the 2.4? 50? 75? What are some precautions to look out for? My friend wants to spray his car and we just want to make sure we cover all the bases.

I would stop at a 75 shot just to be safe

Hahn has takin the Ecotec to +300whp but that was with boost, nitrous has a much stronger hit on the bottom end so you may not be able to reach those power levels on the 2.4 with a large shot without breaking something

My friend wants to run a 75 but we want to make sure it'll be safe enough. He's taking many precautions when we wire it up, including the main on/off switch, window switch, wot switch, and a a/f ratio switch that if it were to go lean it'd cut out. Plans also include remote bottle opener, bottle blanket and a bottle gauge in ss/sc piller. The main thing is we don't want to blow up the car. Were looking to have some fun and hopefully run with some stage ss/sc's on the 75 shot but who knows. Keep the comments coming.

you should be fine with your current plans

as long as you aren't pushing it with a large shot 100+ then you shouldn't have any issues

My friend only plans on running a 75 shot thats it. Should he get 1 step or 2 step colder plugs?

buy both, along with a good scanner.... juice and look for KR, if you get high numbers (3+) go to the next colder step... also you should be looking at a 30-35 gap depending on your afr..

You should pick up some tuning info and tools before you attempt this, otherwise you're asking for a blown motor or pistons...

You need a wideband A/F gauge.
You need an Interceptor, or HP Tuners scanner for knock and logging purposes.

It's good to have a wideband, but it's not necessity <sp>

If you're overly concerned, an interceptor is a good investment to monitor things like Knock and such.

the 2.4 is built strong enough to take the 75 shot in stride, just take the proper precautions (colder plugs i.e. 1-2 step, window switch, WOT switch, at least 91-93 octane fuel, proper jetting, etc)

This is a slow piece together so right now we got the ss/sc pillar on its way, a nitrous pressure gauge for the pillar, and prob going to get an inceptor. You think thats enough gauges or should we spare for the A/F too?

well it's good to have for peace of mind, but honestly, the fuel is fixed depending on what jet size you are running, so it's not like you can really do anything about it. a vaccuum gauge would be a better investment (if the engine is damaged it will pull less vaccuum than it may have prior, so it can help to have that info). same with oil pressure (a spun bearing usually nets a drop in pressure)

My friend got his n2o kit today. I just want to make a quick list of everything else he might want to consider getting.

-bottle heater or blanket
-some kind of pressure gauge
-2 step colder plugs
-window switch

can you guys think of nething else?

make sure the bottle heater that he gets is regulated by bottle pressure and not temperature, it'll work better

other than that, thats the basics that he needs really.
