N2o for Intercooler cooling???

So I was looking into some cooling mods. It will be going on an 06 SS. the plan is to send it to Hahn in July to get a complete turbo swap. I was looking into cooling mods and pretty much settled on a combo of the devils own kit and the killer chiller. Then Jut for ***** and grins I was on CA and clicked on there nitrous link and i see they have kits for N20 bottles that go straight into the intercooler. Now I have never herd of N2o being used for anything but what you typically use it for, for boost. Any thought on how it works compared to the devils own or killer chiller kit?

Thanks in advance.

you don't "typically" use it for boost, you use it because it has approx 2x the amount of oxygen in it compared to air. the heat and pressure releases the oxygen, which allows you to burn more fuel, which means more cylinder pressure, which means more power.

anyways, it's not un-common to use it to cool an intercooler.

Thanks Joe.

I use "typically" as a loose word from someone with no mechanical background... This is my first tuner car and im trying to learn and do as much to it as possible. over the last month i have seriously read every single post on this site from the past 6 months. Just trying to soak up as much as possible. Thats what I get for taking all computer related classes in high school and college and no auto mech classes...

Thanks again for the reply

Yep, people use the intercooler kits all the time to supercool their H/E's to pump cooler air into the engine and help reduce heatsoak
aka, more power without spraying n2o into your engine

That being said, is the N2O all you would need for cooling mods on a ~400WHP cobalt or should I look into combining it with other things such as meth injection or the killer chiller?

Thanks again guys!

imo you're going to need meth too

but i dont own a ss/sc that makes 400whp, so you might want to wait for someone else to chime in, or try pm'ing someone who's made over 400whp to see what cooling mods they have

N20 is expensive to cool the intercooler round here its about $50 to fill a 10lb bottle, while you could get a cryo kit its cheaper then a nitrous kit, and runs on co2 which around here is about $10-$15 to fill a 10lb bottle.

I was actually looking at the nitrous express kit which says it runs on Co2 as well. Reason being is I get Co2 filled for free. So a kit like the one you posted or the NX kit that runs on Co2 would be great...

i have a c02 intake cooler, and intercooler sprayer .( comes with 10lbs tank... usual big n20 tank) lines , valve, fittings, the intercooler spray bar, intake tube(cools the IAT's up to 30 deg.). if ur lookin 2 buy anything like this hit me up

PS: also there is no tune needed to run this system you bolt it up , fill the bottle run the lines and then ur done.( n20 is ALOT more expensive than c02) The systom is called CRYO2 i used it on my vr4 ( stealth) and its just bolted up to the redline never rilly had time to run it so if ur lookin 4 a setup like this i would be willing to sell it.

I can take pics if nessicary comes with everything on the websight.

OP I have one of those kits lying around with the intake bulb, like stated by nicksredline. I got Methanol and installed that and dont much care to install in anymore.. Let me know, maybe we could work a deal out.
