Hey whats up, so I might be taking over Britts tC, and we might trade my cav for a 08 G6 GT and she'll take that. So we'll see what happens, if I end up with this tC I darn well will be looking at slapping a turbo on in it's future.

I'll have that GM body kit to get rid of, the CF hood, TRD Spoiler, Suspension, Intake, another spoiler, another set of sideskirts, strut bars.

a 97 Cavalier Sedan LS - 2.2 liter, Auto, 94,500 miles, Black, Power Windows, Locks, Couple Dings and dents (nothing too bad), A/C is weak, but works - think it might need to be recharged.

Needed when I bought it:

2 window motors
Guy thought it needed power steering pump (had no PS fluid in it, hence the whine)
Inspection
Tire (slow leak)
Taillight bulb

I'll be getting a mirror for the passenger's side, looked like it broke off before then was ghetto rigged on. Mirrors are only $20 for a power mirror gotta love old GM cars - parts bountiful and cheap

So in total:

$750 - Car
$79 - DMV documents
$78 - Tire Installed
$65 - Window Motors (2)
$60 - Inspection
$3.50 - Bulbs
$15 - Oil and Filter
$10 - New Wipers

Total: $1060 for a pretty good reliable lil beater.

Yup, gonna change the oil tonight (love how the oil filter is tucked behind near the fire wall ), the coolant was just flushed and water pump just replaced.

All fluids seems ok. Gotta figure out why the passenger side wiper isn't getting any washer fluid though. Checked and the lines look okay.

Only concerns regarding the car are - starter and timing belt. He said the starter was a PITA when replacing.

we are looking to get a motor for the Bonneville, once that's up and running the black widow will go i've actually thought about buying it from my dad. we'll see, i'd rather get a truck/suv.

well hopefully you get all you can out of it before a timing belt needs to be replaced.... i'm not a fan of that, haha.

and you just reminded me that i need to put washer fluid in my car.

This car doesn't use a timing belt, it runs a timing chain so you shouldn't have any issues there. The nozzle could just be plugged up on the wiper arm for the solvent.

Make sure you make up something to cover the exhaust pipe so the oil from the filter doesn't come down onto it and cause a smoke show.

3rd keep and eye on the drivers side front corner of the head and block, if there is coolant there, its time for a new head gasket.

Yeah, but if I plan on keeping the car for a while, then I don't see a problem with doing it.

Also, there's a "clunking" noise coming from the rear. It's either the exhaust hanger or the strut. It makes the noise on smooth or bumpy roads regardless (I'm thinking exhaust hanger). I don't know though.

The car came with an aftermarket cd player - put a cd in, and never saw it again. It's back to AM/FM now

Yes, you're correct "chain" I meant to say that, but belt came out since I've been looking at a ton of foreign cars as beaters.

Yeah, I was planning on lying something down so the oil doesn't flow all over the exhaust.

I'll actually check that out today when I look at her again (head gasket). Thanks for the tip!

Strut mounts suck in these cars, they always clunk, rears crack and break, good news is the bearing is replaceable upfront.

Nice. Honestly, I'm thinking of painting the door handles. They're faded gray now and it's actually bothering me.

I'll prob take them off this weekend and paint em black to blend in better. That and the front bumper grille (opaque gray color right now). Bothers me even being a "beater".

I don't feel as bad going over train tracks or avoiding potholes as I used to. I just run right into them. Backing up out of parking spots is easier and I don't have to worry about door dings anymore!

This bitch will have at least ONE 120hp burnout!!

lol, gotta make sure you have fun with it being a beater! It should be somewhat tank worthy in the snow with decent tires.

QFT my cavy was a snow tank! I loved it...still mad at myself for trading it in. I really should have kept it as a beater.
