It's The New Guy....

Hey Everyone,

I'm officially into my second childhood.....Offically an old geezer here who just picked up an '07 SS/SC today. It's Yellow with black racing stripes and 2-tone yellow and black interior(yea, yea I know, a freakin' bumblee!) and I FUKIN' LOVE IT!! I can't believe the speed and smoothness of the powerband! Tires are Pirelli P-Zeros (please don't tell me those are stock! LOL). Had all of 5k miles on it! It definitely does not have the stock exhaust (possibly magnaflow?) and the windows are tinted out. Will be modding it when I can (a good CAI first). Can anybody recommend a good tuner? You'll find me M - F buzzing down 91 to New Haven and back. Beep howdy!

Nice, I have an 07 too. They are definitely very nice cars. The pirellis are stock haha. If it's a magnaflow, check the tip of the exhaust, it should say "magnaflow performance." I actually have a magnaflow on mine and it sounds awesome. Theres a couple good CAI out there, Injen and K&N are very nice. A couple small companies make 3" intakes which I have heard are good as well. I have an injen and love it. Theres a tuner in CT (cant think of the name) and SMG in mass that I have heard are good, but don't have any experience with them. I am near west hartford also, hope to see you around.

Hey CobaltSS, I just checked and nope, not a Magnaflow. Could be a Flowmaster.... Anyhow it's louder than stock! Hey if these ears can hear it, then it can't be stock! LOL. Figures the tires are stock! Pirellis aren't bad but I'll probably replace them with Eagles next spring.

I'm still up in the air between Ingen and K&N. Did you do the install yourself? If so, did you do it by removing the tire and splashguard, etc. or by removing the headlamp assembly?

The only "bummer" about the car was the dealer I bought it from sent it to the Chevy dealership down the road to fix the emergency brake (obviously under warranty) and it came back with the big ding in the spoiler! Obviously some moron at the shop backed into something!! Now I need to make an appointment for them to replace it. Grrrrr!!!!!

I'll look into SMG - thanks for the info!

As long as the exhaust sounds good, lol. Both intakes are nice, I have the Injen and have seen many K&N's in person, so what ever you think. I did the install myself and I had to take the front wheel and splashgaurd for the install. I didn't take out the headlight but I've heard that makes it easier to install.

That sucks about the ding on the spoiler. Good luck with the repair. The emergency brakes on these cars aren't the best. I hear a lot of people complaining about them

I talk with Fred from SMG all the time hes on my site a lot doing alot of vendors sruff over their.
He hosted a meet at the begining of the spring/summer too it was pretty good.

put my eibach's sportline springs on and tinted my car did a great job.

If you dont want to go to mass i have heard J&M's in Manchester near my house does a good job to i had my car dyno'd their.

I would go with SMG though only be cause Fred does good work and stands behind it.

Question for any of you, where is a good place to get a body kit painted at. I was thinking of getting an RK ground effects and shipping it to where ever I am going to get it painted. I just want to know where a good/cheapest place I can get it done at. Actually, at best, a place that will paint and install it on my car.Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up on both SMG and J&M guys.

Well it's been 2 days and I'm having LOTS of fun driving this puppy! I love how smooth the powerband is. Can't believe how fast it gets to 100+....lol Of course I was used to a POS chrysler sebring and a ram truck before that. Torrington Hyundai said to bring the car back after having fun with it over the weekend and they'll take care of everything. Good people to do business with. Also discovered where the paint was rubbed off on the front bumper just before the driver side tire. It definitely wasn't there when I looked at the car of Saturday! Think their detailer got a little too heavy handed with the buffer/polisher! Also a scratch on the bottom of the bumper on the passenger side! They said "no prob" they'd take care of it.....claimed kinda their fault for not fully inspecting the car when it came back from the Chevy dealership. Like I said, good people to deal with . Been trying to keep it sane on the highway and I'm impressed, I'm getting around 34 mpg @ 70 - 73 using the cruze....

Welcome to the site, CobaltConvert!

If you want to find out how fast your car really is, I suggest checking out jannettyracing.com and going to their track day at Lebanon Valley on September 19th. Its $100 for all day racing; you can get well over 20 runs in if you have the inclination. There will be a few cobalts there including one that Jannetty just did a turbo conversion on.
