If I'm reading this right, you bought the Stage 2 and the Exuahst from the dealer and had them install it for $760?? That's really good. Now, if you paid $760 just for the install of Stage 2 and Exhaust, you got ripped. Hope that's not the case.

went to my GM dealer and according to their book, it costs between 250-300 for the install of the stage 2. You can buy your stage 2 kit anywhere and bring it to them to install. I am in NC btw. see ya

Yes, it shouldn't take longer than 3 hours for install.

You should be looking at something around $300 or so

If your dealership is very experienced w/ stage kits, it shouldn't take them 3 hours to install a S2 kit...

Granted, that's still prob the best deal he's going to find.

If I were him, I would pay the extra money to know it will be installed correctly. My dealership charged me 3 hours, but that was because I was the first one they did. Turned out that the tech was an idiot; though, cause he imporperly seated one of the injectors and fudged up the o-ring on it so we had to order another one and then later on I found out he cross thread the bolts into the hub when he was installing the pulley...

i paid 45 for the reflash i rented a Power Steering Pump Pulley Installer ...i had the pully pressed off at a machine shop for 20bucks. but you can rent a three prong puller, auto zone just didnt have any at the time.

total time spent 2.5hr with running around in my dads beat down 81 f150 to get the pully pressed off.3.5hr if you count the time waiting at the dealership for the reflash.

for the cost of stage 2 (700-800 retail) install should be free , let alone 600 bucks , if i could do it in 2.5hrs running around town i see no reson why a ASE certifed tech cant do it in at lest the same time. but i guess ya gotta make money , but even at the stnd $65hr labor rate it shouldnt cost more than 200 bucks. so i guess gm charges 100 bucks an hr.

That's all well and good, but if he wants to keep his warranty, the S2 kit must be installed by GM.

If you don't care about warranty, then you shouldn't be buying a GM stage kit. For the same cost you could be dyno tuned w/ a smaller pulley, bigger injectors and prob some other goodies...

befor i got stage 2 i did reserch. if there wernt going to keep my warrenty i was going to go with a custom kit, but after calling around and asking a few dealerships they said as long as it was installed to "their standerds " it didnt matter who installed it as long as i got the reflash done.

im just one of thoes people who will not pay for somthing i can do my self.i get free oil changes and i dont even like having the dealer do that , they always spill oil all over my valve cover,

That's cool that the dealers let you do that. Not everyone's dealer will turn a blind eye to GM's warranty requirements. Just remember, the only thing that is in writing is the fact that GM won't cover warranty repair if it wasn't installed by GM. If you move and go to a different dealership, you may run into them giving you a hard time...
