Okay, there are two hydrolic linkages that connect to your tranny. One is for the syncros and the other for the gears. Both are esentially brass hats w/ a counter-weight that sit on top of a cylinder (rod) that protrudes from the tranny. You can see them through your driver's side wheel well w/ the wheel off. They sit right below the fuse box.
Anyways, when the hat is lined up on top of the cylinder, there are holes that line up through each to push a roll pin into one side of the hat, through the cylinder and back out the other side of the hat. A roll pin is basically a flat steel plate rolled into a hollow pin. My pin on the shifter linkage sheered into three pieces. So there was on piece stuck in each side of the hat and one piece stuck inside the clyinder. We punched all three out and ran a bolt through it w/ a nut and locktite on the other side...
Eh, you'll get em' tiger. Next time either even the playing field or have Matt do enough work that it doesn't matter if you've got the whole Cosby family in there w/ ya...

Pure speculation my friend. Some could say I shift too hard, others could argue that the holes weren't drilled completely straight so the roll pin was bent upon installation. If the holes aren't lined up perfectly, then the roll pin will be bent when it's pressed in. From there it's only a matter of time until it breaks. You could also go w/ the theory that the metal had impurities and, therefore, weak spots. It's not uncommon for batches of steel to have impurities. Just something that can never be guaranteed. Impurities in the metal could easily explain it not holding up over time.
I shift fast, but I never force the car into gear. I let the car pull itself into gear. The important part to focus on here is the fact that my dealer is going to warranty it no problem, and hopefully drill it out w/ a grade 8 bolt so I don't have to worry about it going again. Mechanical **** breaks mang, it's just the name of the game. Some people have had oodles of problems w/ this, others have never heard of it. Both ends of the spectrum has both types of driver (grandma or Andretti)...

Very interesting. I suppose you dealer was cool about the tanny mounts?
My dealer mostly sells Buick's... so 98% of there customers are much older.... I was the First SS/SC car any of them had seen been bought from them, so when I had my stg2 put on (And they only charged me like $150 for it) I'm not so sure they knew I had an H/E. But from when Ive seen, other dealers are ass hats about that stuff....

The mounts have absolutely nothing to do w/ the shifter linkage...
You go with your bad self.. lol..I make sure to have some sort of connection for any of my needs. I scratch your back you scratch mine. Weather it be for tires, performance, or straight up warranty work
True true. I've just gotta get it fixed up soon cause I'm bringing my car down to Matt in three weeks and I need it to be in tip top shape for the dyno.
I'm hoping I can get the dealership to punch out the other roll pin and replace it at the same time considering that one will break eventually also...
P.S. - For anyone interested. I'm going down 2/16. Will prob be there between 9-10am. Everyone feel free to come by and hang out. I haven't even met half of you in person...

On a side note, Dan was baby born yet? And I have moved out on my own into a condo, no more living with my parents anymore haha. Once I get it all together, I'm gonna see about having some people over to check it out and whatnot.
If you wanna make the.... 4 hr drive, then thats party dedication hahaha.
Baby due any damn minute. Girl is having some contractions and serious back pain so I think this week sometime.
Just got my first ticket ever tonight! I literally work across the street from a police station and just when I pulled out of my job bam, ****** nailed me for tint. He was nice, apologized for having to do his job and all. Good guy none the less.
I can't believe you have your car, 19yrs old, and your own place. Doing good I must say.
And to top it all off, Dan's getting a NICE amount back in taxes because I went to college this year. Gonna pay some bills, and gonna try to get some car stuff.

I thought you knew Dan was having a kid, he posted it about 50 pages back haha. And I have yet to invite anyone over since I'm in the middle of getting it to be where I want it, fresh paint, clean, flooring, etc. Believe me, when I'm done you'l get an invite and if you wanna help feel free hahaha.
Yeah, ALOT going on lately. Dan got his own place, Dan's girl is havin a lil one, and Andy picked up another job. We are most definitely going to have to meet up sometime soon
Like 3 if you count the Air National Guard that I do one weekend a month. lol..I still work at Lockheed, and starting monday I will be a lot attendant at a local Pontiac dealership.. Stress and drama free, and it's a no brainer kinda job. They also gonna start me out at like 8 or 9 an hour...That'll get me like an extra 4 hundo a month in my pocket...I need it..
