Dan pulls up to a Sheetz and guides his Saturn ION Redline to the pump, where he selects 93 and begins to pump.

Promptly, a group a teenage girls--all above eighteen years of age, mind you--pull up beside him and depart their Dodge Neon, whose face says: HI!

He strikes up a conversations, turning from the pump and saying: "Hi, girls! Wanna see my fuel injectors?"

Assorted giggles arise from two, while one accuses him of pedophilia, and the last tells him she's waiting for marriage.

Dan points at the hood of his car. "Fuel injectors. I just bought these bitchin' 60 pounders, and a 2.6 pulley. No ****! I'm pushing 18 psi now." And smiles.

Blank stares.

"My car's fast," says he.

"Isn't that a Saturn?" says one.

"Yes."

"Well, it's a CUTE car, I'll give you that," says another.

"Will you go out with me?"

"No," say the four.

And Dan turns away and sighs, then frowns, and slips, alone, into his car and drives off. The clouds gather and spit rain upon his windsheild and his only companions? The soft whick-whick of the wipers, and his aching heart.

Hey, my car WAS in the position his was in, so I have earned the right to give him a hard time. Though I didn't break my transmission. Mine was totally beyond my control. Fuel pump decided to crap out on me in the middle of Shadyside.

LOL, he's not even allowed on my hood. No scratches allowed on the hood. So no "hood honey" for me. Besides, like he says, we can both admit we like our cars better than each other and no one gets mad.
