A loose or failing tensioner or improperly installed tensioner can leave the belt slip and even possibly jump a thread causing the belt to fray an tear. Just make sure you know what your doing.
I have a thread for depressing the tensioner w/o having to put a 15MM wrench on top and depressing it. I use a pry bar and a screwdriver. Here it is https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-...ed-nub-285598/
