heat is the killer hands down with superchargers and running a smaller pulley. horsepower is a calculated number to make people feel all tingly inside. There are only 2 ways of increasing hp. the first is to increase torque. this can be accomplished by bolt-ons such as exhaust, intake, smaller pulleys and others. The 2nd way is to increase rpm. I'm not telling everyone to start shifting at 8k. I'm saying that you need to mod the car to make power to a higher rpm, i.e. cams and parts of that nature. The reason the heat is the number 1 killer is because now there is no density to the air entering the engine. If you look through this site you will see it all the time. You see people running 2.8-2.9 pulleys making in the range of 240-260 hp and lets say 220-235 ft/lbs of torque. They switch to a 2.5 pulley and still make 240-260 hp but now make 250 ft/lbs of torque. then you ask yourself why does this thing make so much more torque but my hp didn't increase. that would be because you spinning the supercharger so damn fast and creating ridiculous heat that the air becomes so hot it's basically reversing anything the blower is putting out.
Now onto the point of the ported supercharger being more efficient. First a little info for those that don't know. Three types of superchargers. Roots(what we all have), twinscrew, and centrigual. Now the differences. The centrigual aka. vortech or procharger style superchargers act like a turbo in the fact of the compressor housing. a centrifugal supercharger actually compresses air inside the compressor housing and then pushes that air into the engine making it extremely efficient. A twinscrew type supercharger also compresses the air inside the housing itself and then pushing the air into the engine but makes more boost off of idle then a cetrifigul because its directly mounted to the engine. the roots is the most inefficient of all the designs because in fact it does not actually compress the air, it is more or less an air pump. the boost numbers you see are from the air being compressed inside the intake manifold right before it enters the engine. When air compresses it makes the air hotter and since the roots compresses right before it enters the engine that is why they sucks ass.

yea me and 06ss all day got to play around, that thing is fast....you can see the mods in the sig, basically all that ish with me tryna tune it, "half assed" is an understatement but it runs haha

lol i said half assed cause u said ur retuning it cause intense phucked it all up lol. not saying its crappy but when i was looking at ur motor i wasnt listening to you and chris. i was just amazed from the pulley size. all i kept saying in my head was holy **** over and over. than when i seen the sticker for diamond pistons and **** i was just like DAMNNNNN thats phucking nice as ****. i get lost when chris talks lol. obviously uknow what he is saying. ill get him to come up to best buy next week

and yea I was tryna take EVERYTHING that Chris was telling me about tuning in! Hes definitely on point w/it...I remembered sum, not all, should definitely bring him to the meet out here also.
**EDIT** Not too mention, I would never take anything away from your car, ZZP is definitely running the game w/the LSJs so its no suprise it runs that close to my car w/mods for days....I need to hit em up and see if they gotta tune for me too, I might give up on this tuning, it aint for everybody haha
lol I wont even call it a win but I got him by a bumper at most from the 40 roll the second roll race b4 we shut it down cuz of traffic, idk, my car seems to wanna wake up late as **** at the top of 3rd and 4th lol...
