Shaun wanted the gt because it was a race, he knew Matt was sticking around and could race him later on in the night, in which, he basically begged to do and Matt kept saying NO. And that gt wasn't stock. So...

Ok, lets settle this. I will run Matt and Shaun from a dig and roll. I ran Denny, got beat. So I guess I can move down the list starting at the top.

It's BJ, who the hell knows what all he's got car-wise. Maybe he's the one that bought Denny's EVO too and the Si is just the daily driver.

If that's a repost, eff you for noticing 05 LS2 A4 Goat I saw yesterday, when I was driving by Day Toyota. They've got a 2006, black Stang GT there, too, but I don't think anyone's interested in that. Didn't catch the Stang's exact price...low 20s I think. I'd def. get the goat over that haha

Figured I'd check in, too. Picking up a ton of shifts before school starts. Wanna get lowering springs, possibly meth injection. Also starting a savings fund for the gonna-blow-soon-Eaton. I figure I'll replace it once, then it'll last me till the IRL becomes a project car with a snail, in a few years.

RL Dan -- how's your install coming?

2.4 Dan -- ^ ditto

Denny -- At work, while getting paid to read the DuPont Registry, I noticed an advertisement for some dealer or whatever, offering a bunch of different SRT8s (Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler). The Jeep, apparently, is turbo'd, 600+ whp, high 11s @ like 118 in the 1/4. 0-100 in 8.5 seconds, or there about. No times for the sedans, but said 500-650 hp upgrades avail. How is this possible if they're unable to be tuned? They using, like, a MAF-t or something? That takes me back to RL Dan's early days lol

I start school in a week, so should be MORE sane. I really want to make it out to Mt. Pleasant. I work early on Saturday, but hopefully not Sunday. So possibly Sat. night?

Finally have a big enough issue w/ the IRL that it's gotta get to the dealer. Noticed the driver's side seam, between the quad door and the full door, was leaking a little. When driving, I can hear a gap opening and closing a little, depending on which way I'm turning. (If turning to the left, the gap gets pushed closed. If to the right, it opens. When driving straight, I hear low wind/tire noise).

When I'm in there I'll see if I can talk em into new transaxels, and have em listen to my tranny. What the hell, right? I've had this car two years and they haven't had to do ****. They owe me something

Finally, drove a Mazda MS3 yesterday. Guy at work got one. We swapped cars for a bit, but didn't run each other...yet. Actually, after he drove mine, he doesn't want to.

Bone stock-for-stock, they'd pull on the Balt SS/SC and IRL, if launched properly. I don't think it was just the different "feel" of a turbo, versus what I'm used to. Most likely a better match up would be a Stage I or II LSJ. There really wasn't all that much lag, once you're outta the hole. Power hits hard at 3000 rpm, then runs out of steam after 5,000 rpm. I wonder if the turbo is just getting damn hot. In between the car gets flung forward nicely, but, frankly, I enjoy the powerband of a stock LSJ, and esp. a tuned one, better.

Compared to my car, specifically, I'd simply start pulling from launch, would be making the same amount of power between 3-5k, then I have 5k-7k to keep making 20-30whp more I was able to see one of the few advantages of s/c vs. turbo, I suppose. Yeah, turbo, huge power, but if you're not going nuts, I think s/c is the way to go. Just a nice, linear shove into the seats at almost any RPM. With the MS3 it is: ease outta the hole, no traction issues, BAM, get thrown into seats, then it got winded, and time to shift. Fell right into the power band tho, so the car does pull hard.

I imagine they could be nicely tuned. Not sure.

Handled well. Easy to drive fast. I hate the fact it's a wagon though. Versus the IRL/Balt SS/SC, you can just "feel" that weight above your head, and in the car's ass end. Sedan would kick ass.

The IRLs, at least, and even the Balts imho, have nothing against their interior/exterior quality, save for motor mounts. I do miss the feel of a car that feels, I dunno, all sealed up...but frankly, after switching keys and getting back in my car, there's something to be said for the IRL and it's rough-around-the-edges feeling. It's an engine that happens to have parts surrounding it, and damn if those parts don't always get along. I think I'd be scared to beat the **** outta something like an MS3, or anything that has good build quality, dumb as that sounds. When I get in my IRL I feel like I'm strapping into a go-kart With my car, I feel every damn part of the road. And since it always seem to be just about to fall apart, but never actually falling apart, it encourages you to be rough.
The MS3 isolated...but some enjoy that. Its tranny was smooth as hell.

Lastly, our brakes and seats, if ya got the Recaros, are a lot better. Their seats look like they should kick ass, but I wasn't impressed. For some reason our style Recaros look so plain, but work so well.

The MS3 owner knew most stuff about my car, so was expecting it. Once before he kinda made a crack about the interior (I'd been hunting a phantom squeak w/ a roll of electrical tape, at work, no less). But after driving he said, first, he was highly impressed and, second, that it reminded him of the last late-model Camaro he drove. Just the overall feel. I've always thought that, expect our interiors are actually a little nicer, depending on what Maro model we're talking about. Last LT1 Camaro I drove, it's interior resembled a Cavalier's a little too closely.

Okay. Enough for now. Time for more work.

Jon
