gah why cant every one give props to a car where its due big whoop the z06 did this in such and such a time...like the whole gt500 thread..yeah the z06 is in the 10's stock but how many variations have there been, how many other cars have used the same or similar engine, how about the suspension? compared to brand new stuff with no/very little street credit

So if you're a newcomer you don't cheat to impress people. It could have run its "true" production time, not beaten the other cars and still gotten some respect. Instead they had to make a glory run to get inflated numbers then brag that on an uneven playing field, they're better.

so you mean to tell me every single other car that ran there was on the exact same tires as what you get buying it off the dealer lot

its the fact that the corvette is continuously been developed upon for how many years? as opposed to a car thats not even in "production" yet...plus were talking v6, albeit TT, vs v8+ cars also price wise for everyone of those cars listed vs 68k

GT-Rs have been around for a looooooooooong time too. Just because this is the first GT-R in how many years doesn't mean that there haven't been ones that have come before.

Dont whip out the cost of the car ricer arguement either. the GT-R is impressive for $68,000 but doesnt have enough nuts to beat a Z06 vette without using slicks, which cost $73,000
Skyline GT-R's go back a long long time in Japan.

the GT-R ran on race compound cut slicks, the Z06, ran on shitty EMT Runflats 325/30/19's in the rear. I for one can't wait for it to come here, and watch it bow down to Z06's, and SRT-10s

and whenever this supposed sooped up V-spec comes to American at $95,000. Then it's going to have to contend with the ZR-1.
exactly a 68k TTv6 vs 70k+ supercars find another v6 that compete with it or another car under 68k that can either just because the z06 might be able to out perform it doesnt mean its not a good car...hell [not to echo the gt500 thread] but give me the price difference to mod the gtr with and see what can happen...i can imagine when the v8 hyundai comes out how there are going to be "omg the zo6 can beat it" posts

Then why not just get into the whole "it needs boost just to keep up with an N/A car" thing, regardless of whether it's a V6 or not?

I'm not saying the car is bad or this or that. People would have been impressed to see it's true production time regardless of what it beat I'm sure. But me going out to BR and kicking the **** out of a faster car than mine, then talking **** on the other car or other driver when I was running slicks and they were running production tires isn't going to get me or my car respect. In fact if I were a guy it'd probably get me closer to an ass kicking.

your true ricer colors are showing if youre splitting hairs over $5000 when talking about "supercars" You might need a bigger fart can
i dont count the z06 as a super car but i wasnt going to say there all super cars except for the z06 and all but the z06 cost way more than 70k and your the one splitting hairs over the fact it wasnt a factory tire on the car

To be technical, that's really not splitting hairs. VERY far from it. On a 40 second auto-x course, a slick tire will knock 1-2 full seconds off your time on a high performance tire. Considering the length and demands of the Nurburgring.........yeah. They fudged their numbers by a LOT by going with a slick.

it doesnt matter what you count it as... the fact is, it hands most "super cars" their lunch....

they trap 125+ and can run mid to high 10's with tires only

O brother....here we go again Remember, the only reason this car is built is the existance of the Porsche 911 turbo. The only car the GTR was built to compete against is the Porsche 911 turbo. How many anythings have ever been photographed running with the new GTR anywhere that wasnt a Porsche 911 turbo. In no way am i sticking up for the new GTR as i think it is ugly as sin and it doesn not impress me. Magazines and gearheads have pinned the new GTR up against everything in the same price segment and then some. But Nissan engineers have said repeatedly that the only car that they wanted the new GTR to compete and win against was the - drumroll - Porsche 911 turbo.

Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo Porsche 911 turbo

Comparing it to anything but the Porsche 911 turbo at this point is moot. Lets see what happens in 2008.

Beats me. I no nothing except that the new GTR was built for the purpose of mopping up a Porsche 911 turbo in all aspects including price.

uhh, you appearantly have no clue what youre talking about. Run on a track with a street tire, then run on slicks.

What a moron
1. i'm saying all the other cars listed cost more than the z06

2. take a zo6 put the exact same spec tires on it and run it on the same track with the same weather conditions and then we can compare times

I'd say that's a more than fair, if not conservative estimate. I wouldn't be surprised if it took more along the lines of 30 seconds off.

all im saying is low 11's all day long, and 10's on drag radials, with 125 traps, off of the showroom floor... is damn impressive... and most super cars cannot match it
