There's been some confusion over the tires used on the GT-R during its 7:38 lap of the Nurburgring. Various sources have reported that cut slicks were used. This is incorrect, and stems from a language barrier at a press conference during the GT-R's debut at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Senior GT-R development engineering staff on hand at the 'ring trip I attended confirmed that production-specification (including the tread compound) Bridestone RE070 tires were used on the 7:38 lap.
The three pre-production cars Nissan had on hand during the final Nurburgring trip were production-intent configuration. The strongest car of the three (within production variation) was selected to run the lap, with no "hotting up" done to fudge the result.

If you don't think GM did the same thing for selection of lap car your kidding yourself. Its within production variances.
It should also be noted the car ran on a damp track as it had rained on 2 sections. 7:38 on production tires on A DAMP TRACK...is quite an accomplishment.

fact of the matter is, the GT-R cannot hang with the Z06 unless equipped with slicks.

These kindve conversations are too in depth for you man, stick with asking questions like "which fart can is best for me" or "what cold air intake makes the best noises."

The 2.0G most likely refers to peak lateral acceleration g's acheived on the track...maybe you should take some of your own advice:

hey well i guess they run 12.0-12.5 with high - LTFT's while commanding 14.7 from the factory eh?
The point was there is no freak out mode and you guys were just talking out your ass repeating what some "know it all tuner god" on your gto forums said without knowing wtf it meant.

ok dan, because i ran those times 2 years prior it didnt happen, youre something else.
We never raced, you ran Al, not me. He was hanging right on your bumper, and last i checked, i was a good bit faster than him.
$3k in mods? Its not up that far yet, but uhh... 8mph in traps is pretty damn decent. I mean without sounding like a dick, but at least my stuff still runs after i work on it

8mph for 3k+ isnt really a deal...
A cam swap is ez...you didnt even get into any parts that require tq specs and stretch to yield parts...save maybe your crank pulley. If you manage to **** up a cam swap on a OHV v8 you need to /wrists. We can't all be perfect on our first try on everything...../sarcasm

Drag radials arent free use their cost prob around 500...hpt cost more then 200 its 700 for what he bought and wideband is another 200...1500 right there add 600 for headers..2100, 200 for cam, 300 for springs 2600. 200 for exhaust and 2800...pretty close to 3000... using retail prices.
but then again I was just quoting off what he said it costs on the gto forums...
without data/proof you are just another person with an opinion. I didnt say your forums were full of **** (tho I feel the tuners kinda are) just that jay was. Like I said in the above post...no matter what you have done...jay always is 1 better...its funny actually...cause we know hes full of ****.

and as i said, there are people running mid to high 10's with 120-125 trap speeds... N/A... so yes a 8mph gain is huge.

First off I never even doubted the trap speed. I said the ET...which is what is relevant since you guys always want to race from a dig anyway. .3 ET improvement for almost 3k is not impressive

But you have headers, tune, no cats, and an exhaust and are .3 sec faster with 2 or 3 more mph...and you promised 12s....and we get 13.2s mixed with some 16s and 17s

and i have NEVER posted a "corrected time".. that is what ricers do... but it DOES effect cars... go to the rocky mountain thread and look at what some of the denver guys are running... or las vegas motorspeed way
im not questioning your tuning or hptuners skills, as i appreciate the help, but punching buttons != wrenching
