There have been some ugly accusations against Rota for their poor craftsmanship. More-so with their multi-spoke wheels, they have issues with hairline fractures and weak spots due to their casting process. I dont think they offer a wheel that is forged. If they did, they could probably eliminate some of their issues.

Here is one of a few different articles on their issues:

http://www.importfactor.com/aftermar...ed-wheels.html

They make sweet wheels and im not knocking them. I especially think the ones you got are very nice. I was just suprised to hear that you would autoX on them given their flexing and fracturing issues.

Ah, thanks for the heads up and information! Well, hopefully I won't have any issues, and I'll be sure to inspect them after every event.

I know a number of Suby guys that have them, and haven't seen anyone's rims have any issues, and they auto-x with them. They are ones like the Torque model, a 5-split-spoke type.

The main reason why alot of people starting bashing Rota is because they took the designs from expensive wheel companies like Mugen and put their name on them. I was gonna buy some black Slipstreams for my old Accord. Alot of people I know have them. Nothing wrong with getting "the look" for less. As long as they don't give you any problems, who cares? lol.

Heh, when I bought the wheels I didn't even know Rota made imitation wheels. I guess the P45's are basically a Nismo wheel...probably why I see a lot of R34 Skylines with these wheels at the navy base in japan. lol.

The main reason I bought them is a guy on the forum had a low-number order for Rota to make these custom for the GTO - correct offsets and bore diameter and not the typical bmw bore diameter that is 2mm too big and doesn't fit hub centric. Plus I got them for a pretty sweet price shipped with locking lugs, valve stems, and center caps.

I would have to agree. I had the S2 on my Cobalt when i had it. It was nice for a while but it leaves something to be desired after a bit. Go straight to a 2.8 and 60's.

agreed, I went from stage two to 2.8... stage 2 ended up being a waste of money. The only good thing out of it was I got my clutch replaced under warranty.

If you are hellbent on getting the S2 put in, go to Kenny Ross Chevrolet in Irwin. They did mine and Smary Arty's (Steve) install so they know how to do them. I got mine done at a discount since i worked there at the time, but it shouldnt be more than about $200 give or take. You will want to talk to either Rick Grace or Rick Johnson.
